After ending up in tears of frustration following a phone call to the Kennel Club about my shocking renewal price I feel a lot better knowing I'm not alone. My lovely Shih Tzu cost about £22 a month last year, this year is £44!!! What makes me really mad is that the cover is 'flexible' as long as you're a new customer. How awful is that. I don't need some of the cover which I know would reduce the premium to a more affordable level. So why the hell can't existing customers change the policy!
What a shocking way to treat continuing customers. I will be making an official complaint to them, and hope others do to. I expect premiums to increase, but if the new policy is supposed to be flexible, why isn't it???16 x Sanyo HIT 240w panels, 3.84kWp, south facing, 30 degree slope in the SW, 4.4 Eltek HE-t inverter installed 27/03/12

I've been insured for a couple of years with Marks and Spencer for my 2 year old cocker spaniel. He has no medical problems and we have never made any claims.
My premium for the last year has been £22 per month and they've just sent me renewal quote for £27 per month. If I go to their website and get a new quote for my dog it's only £17 per month!
Really annoyed that they can overcharge people on renewals. I will be calling them tomorrow and hopefully they'll match the other quote anyway but this sort of things winds me up!!!
Sainsbury's did the same with my Cocker. So, I went with AXA last year. I have just received the new bill from them for this year- RAISED OVER 30% - to £560. I had no claims and the boy is now 6 yrs old. The pet insurance industry is a total scam and unregulated it seems.FREEDOM IS NOT FREE0 -
i was thinking of going with them too for my dog but i can not find reviews either all i can think of is that they have only been in business for a year or so that way no one has come to the end of their insurance so they have not done any reviews!
i put a post on here a few days ago asking the same thing have a look!
oh and im going to chance it and go with them i think so ill let you know if i have any probs!
regards
Yeah I think I will too. I was going to go with argos to start with as I thought it would be a lot cheaper but even in the first year it's £13.31 pm..0 -
Got my renewal today, gone up to £14.86 but now only covers vet fees.No third party cover. So will hunt around.0

Update on my post(above)
Argos Silver quote £14.92p.
Rang Tesco to cancel & they say the third party excl. was a printing error & is now included.0 -
I've read through a few of these posts and I think I will just set up some savings for my dog to pur aside in case she needs to see the vet.
I never bothered with insurance with my last dog but this time I got 2 weeks free petplan insurance as she came from a rescue centre so I have been looking at prices. From what a few of you have said it seems like a right old rip off! If I am going to pay £20+ per month I may as well just put the money aside. Don't know if I'm right or wrong (must need a crystal ball for this decision!) but I think I'll pass on insurance...Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000
Save £12k in 2013 no.34 £11,800/£12,000
'How much can you save' thread = £7,050
Total=£29,100
Mfi3 no. 88: Balance Jan '06 = £63,000.
Balance 23.11.09 = £nil.

Self insurance can be the way to go in many situations. Certainly better than buying it at the point of sale in electrical shops for almost everything.Desperate_Housewife wrote: »If I am going to pay £20+ per month I may as well just put the money aside. Our cat had the couple of weeks with PetPlan as he was also from a rescue centre, and is now 18 months old. The reason I've been concerned about the lack of payment from Sainsburys is that it's already some £500... and continuing to increase:(0 -
Hi.
Just looking to insure our 9 year old Patterdale.
Checked http://www.moneysupermarket.com/c/pet-insurance/dog-insurance/ Has anyone had any dealings with Pet-insurance.co.uk ??
they seem cheap £11.47 for lifetime cover.
Thanks.0 -
I pay monthly for my pet insurance. I have not had it for a year yet but I havent made a claim. I am thinking of changing it over to Tesco where there is 50% off at the moment. Would I still have to pay the rest of the years premium on the old policy (2 months) Any one know anything about Tesco pet insurance?0
