I have just bought my pet insurance for my dog with More than who came out very reasonable priced as well as having a good policy. I only have one animal but noticed they offered dicounts if you insured more than one pet. Also if you buy it via Quidco you get £40 cashback.
  • I would call them and ask them whether any of those conditions mean exclusions for future conditions and I would ask them if they can put this in writing - something that I haven't done but would probably be worth it if they will.

As far as I am aware AXA only accept new insurance policies over the internet and it's a very simple form, I'm sure you'll have all of the info on hand. I don't think that you even have to specify past treatment's on the form, you just say that there have been some and it shows you a screen saying that pre-existing conditions won't be covered. If you make a claim they probably either get the history from the vet or ask them whether it was pre-existing.

£390 for all 4 - absolute bargain IMO. I was paying £80+ per month for my 2 dogs for a policy with kennel club (both registered pedigrees). However I couldn't fault the cover as it cover our spaniel up until she died at 15 and the other until she passed away aged 9. Several big claims over the years and they always paid out.

Cover for my 3 kittens and cat who have never had anything is going to cost c£25 per month with AXA.

NFU sounds good but I would check with them in case their cover has changed and they have put exclusions on. Anything pre-existing will be excluded by a new insurer.

More Than's policy is not a genuine "for life" one Im afraid.

    Ditto Healthy Pets.

Probably £7k is enough for the lifetime of most pets (£7k is the top limit) but if you get a pet with an ongoing, lifetime condition you are going to be on your own once you have claimed the limit.

Hi, first time on this forum and we only got our puppy yesterday.

Looking for insurance today and it's so complicated. Can anyone recommend (or not) Sainsburys Option 2 insurance?

It says vets fees are covered up to £7,500 per year per condition, which a lot don't seem to say. Our quote for that has come up 50p a month cheaper than their Option 1 which only covers up to £3000 (with 12 month limit).
  • I am about to get two mini rex rabbits and the best quote I have been offered for both of them is £17 per month. I have had cats before but never rabbits - can anyone advise what sort of costs I may face with some common bunny problems, or would it be better to put the money away in my savings account and 'self-insure'?

Have you read this thread? I would look at AXA (or Pet Plan)for an insurance quote. Because Sainsburys is a supermarket they could change underwriters and costs would go up.

What kind of research have you done about bunny health problems? Did you talk to the breeder. I had a rabbit in the past and didn't have insurance. What does the quote you mention offer as far as coverage goes?

Hi, thanks for replying. I've dipped into the thread but not read all 120 pages. I'm slowly getting my head around the minefield that is pet insurance and beginning to understand it.

OH rang Argos this morning - we had already discounted Sainsburys - and had clarification of quite a few points from them. We're thinking of going with Axa, PetPlan was mighty expensive for very little extra cover.

Whoever it was who explained about the lifetime cover, thank you so much as we didn't know anything about that. It made us dig deep into researching and saved us making a big mistake.
  • Hi

We got our pet insurance renewal letter today from Pet Protect and as we are in financial difficulties, we are looking at every part of our budge to try and make sure every penny counts.

The new monthly premium is £34.74, with £150 vets fees excess and 25% vets fees contributions.

We've only the one dog now and he is at least 11 years old (don't know exactly as he is a rescue dog). So far he has been incredibly healthy, but the signs of old age are creeping in and we know from experience that this is when insurance is valuable.

Does anyone one know of another policy that would cost us less, or does the age of the dog prevent us moving anywhere?
