  • It says on the main page that they are currently updating the pet insurance page. Does anyone know when that might be as my pet insurance is due at the end of the week!

i adopted a 14 yo cat and insured him with axa. within 3 months of taking out the policy i had to claim £800 - axa paid out within 2 weeks. no fuss.
  • Hi I have a 4 month old Irish setter dog pup and we are at the end of our 6 week free insurance I have trawled through the 'mine field' that is pet insurance and the most reasonable quotes I have are from: P.D.S.A. life time policy with a £7K per year per condition, and a quote from pet insurance.co.uk is around £20 cheaper per year and life time policy £4K per year per condition. Anyone found anything better?.

for your info - the PDSA policy is not a true for life policy. a proper for life policy gives you £7000 a year, every year. the PDSA policy gives you £7000 for the duration of your pets life for each incident - which is not bad, but some ongoing conditions or illnesses could exceed that limit fairly easily. there are two companies called petinsurance.co.uk (one is "pet-insurance"), both offer the same cover as above on their best policies.

WARNING: do not go anywhere near E&L or pet-insurance.co.uk - same company! they are one of the worst pet insurance companies out there - that is why they are cheap. you get what you pay for. vets do not even deal directly with them as they know they won;t get their money for months, even if at all!

just scroll back through this thread, or do a search on them in this forum, to read of all the horror stories! google them too!

    AVOID E&L LIKE THE PLAUGE!
they have a really bad repuation for not paying out or taking ages if they do eventually pay, they have really low limits and lots of exclusions.

Aaargh, my heart sank when I read the message from kawoh - ditto what alba and lowis says!

What sort of dog do you have to get such a high premium?

petinsurance.co.uk is NOT real for life cover. If you read their policies, both are limited to £4k - once you reach £4k for a condition you are on your own. Real for life top up the pot every year.
