I used to sing Pet Plan's praises.... but I believe they have introduced a 'cheap' option where the cover is not for life.......... *off to double check*PetPlan wrote:Our Pet Value policies are designed for pet owners looking for essential cover for their pet. Once insured, each illness or injury is covered for up to 12 months from when the condition is first noticed. Some really interesting info here but should it not be made a sticky based on the interest and number of posts? It certainly took me some time to find it.0

M&S, he's a St. Bernard, but his premiums have never been like this before. M&S can't give me any explanation for it, just that vet prices have gone up (what by 300%... really?!). They say it's not got a loading on for prior claims or his age (he'll be 6 soon), that's just the price now. When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0

It's probably worth merging this into the insurance cost cutting discussion, and I will make that a sticky (don't know why it wasn't because I can never find it either!)Signature removed for peace of mind0

Im dreading my renewal on one of mine who is with M and S. My sisters has gone up by a third and her little dog has had no claims whatsoever in 3 years with them. My boy had £400 worth of skin allergy tests and meds 2 years back so I cant move now even though its ok now or if I do I take the chance we dont need more vet help with his skin.
It seems so wrong they can reel you in for a low premium and then bang it up this high. They will go higher because all their clients are going to be those with dogs who have claimed and so they cant move elsewhere but who are likely to claim more regularly. Anyone who hasnt claimed will shoot off to another insurer for a lower premium.0 -
Guess this will all mean that the Whcih? information that I have printed off and am working through comparing etc will be totally out of date by now?0

Hi
Not sure if I'm on the right section but would like to say I had my renewal papers today for my pet dog insurance with Pinnacle Health Care and it will be £17.20 per month starting from January from £15.00 that's more than I pay for my house insurance and also they had increased the excess to a minimum of £70 and we would have to pay 15% of vets fees as well ~ I have looked around and have decided to go with Halifax at £12.39 for an ongoing policy which seems to be the one I want for £6000 per year which will be continuous and ongoing to cover any illnesses etc and would renew the £6000 each year and only £60 excess also they don't penalise for the age of the dog ~ so any advice please on this?
Thanks0 -
Dont buy any?
I dont buy any for any of my animals and never have. I put a small amount in a savings account for pet emergencies and have never had to use it in all the years Ive had animals.
I dont break into it for things like injections and spaying, its just for emergencies.
Honestly...after a year or so, you dont need to spend the 17 a month because you have money in the bank to get you started. Plus it earns interest, plus you can use it for you if your pets never need it.
I wish people would stop making these Insurance fat cats richer and greedier.
20 years ago noone would ever dream of getting pet insurance.
so open an account tomorrow with £60 because thats your excess and add 15 a month to it. It soon really does start to add up.0
