Help, Claiming from Halifax Credit Card

Here's hoping! Just waiting for the post every morning to find out, sad I know but could really do with the money. Its my daughters 1st birthday in 2 and a bit weeks, would be lovely to be able to buy her something nice (and myself too ofcourse!!)

I think we should all get together and kick Halifax butt!!

Can I ask what the number was you rang as the number I rang fobbed me off and I still have had no reply to my letter asking for charges?

Ok scratch that - I phoned the number earlier on this thread - i am not sure what I phoned (EVIL PMT LADY)last time but this was a beautiful call. The lady just said of course, I'll sort that out and they will be with you in 4-7 days! Happy days indeed!

Im glad you found the number, I found them so nice on that number they were really helpful too. I have been having problems getting on to the forum for the last couple of days.

Since phoning and refusing Halifax's offer I have now recieved another letter...

I refer to your recent communication and I am sorry this matter still remains unresolved.

I have noted your comments and, as we are unable to resolve this matter to your satisfaaction, arrangements have now been made to forward your file to a Customer relations manager for review and they will contact you in due course. In the meantime should you wish to speak to someone, our customer relation department can be contacted on 08457 25 35 19.

So I'm assuming that they are playing for time and wonder if I will get a better offer - I really hope so! Was excited when I saw the letter waiting for another offer but No not yet!! Maybe this is just routine just letting me know they are dealing with me.... Ahh well they said I should hear from Customer relations in 10-14 days that was erm a weekish ago so hopefully not long now. As promised will keep you all posted and just hope that this thread helps others claiming of Hellifax, as I had no clue what to do when, but with help from lovely people on here I think I seem to be getting somewhere. Kind of like a step-by-step guide to claiming from Halifax!!

Thanks for the good luck! I can't imagine how excited you were seeing the letter on the doormat! I can't wait for them to send the charges even so I can get the ball rolling.
I am sure I have read another post relationg to halifax charging where someone had received the same letter as you . I will search it now and see what it says. BRB!

Halifax Credit Card claim
Hi All, this is my first post but I've been using the site for around 18 months and thought I ought to register and try and help others reading by telling them of my experience in re-claiming credit card charges - so far!
I sent a letter with my list of charges (£425.10 inc £12 admin fee & interest) to the Halifax on 8th August 08.
I received reply on 19th August offering £169 as a gesture of goodwill and if they didn't hear from me within 8 weeks they would consider the matter closed, but alas no mention of Full and Final Settlement so couldn't yet use the Financial Ombudsman Service.
As the Halifax were truly unhelpful whenever I contacted them for help and advice (at the time I was not as money-wise as I am now trying to be!), I decided to send another letter on 22nd August accepting the £169 as part-payment and without prejudice but that I wanted the full amount of £425.19 and expected a full response within 14 days or I would commence court proceedings.
On 28th August they sent a "sorry this matter still remains unsolved" blah blah blah and that it had been forwarded to a Customer Relations Manager for review and I would be contacted "in due course".
I have just called two different departments for an update and how long "due course" is as the 14 days is up and I haven't received a full response yet. Both of the staff I spoke to (they were really nice) have said that I will have a response by 10th October as it is 8 weeks since the date of my initial complaint (I make 3rd Oct as 8 weeks!). One of the girls said that as far as she was aware most of the complaints were up-to-date and that I probably hear from them before then but to call back next week to keep pushing (sounded like both staff members hate their employer!).
As I wasn't really getting anywhere on the phone I will leave it for today, but I will call next week. If I have no joy then, I will use their "Personal Customer Complaints" leaflet that they included with their first response which have kindly provided the details on how to contact the Ombudsman (however I'd rather wait the full 8 weeks as the Ombudsman prefer you to).
Will let you know of any further developments.

Am impressed my list of charges came so quickly, even if it did detail less charges than I had hoped lol. Will hopefully get the letter fired off tomorrow. Any news Harriets Mum?

Oh my word, am in shock. I just rang the number on the letter on the offchance before I sent in a letter requesting my charges back. The lady asked how much they were and said I can send you a letter to sign and you can have it!!!
I didn't mention the interest which comes to about 110 quid but full payback of charges is great dion't you think!

Now, who reckons when they send this letter I should send it back with a note asking for the interest too? Or is that just cheeky. LOL
I can't beleive it - 2 phonecalls is all it took.

I didn't ask for the interest on the Halifax Credit Card. I was just starting out with claiming then and didn't want to rock the boat so to speak. I was just delighted to get the charges. Its really up to you whether you want to pursue it or not. If you do write that on the acceptance form it will have to go back to the drawing board and if they do decide to pay interest you'll need to wait on another form to sign.

Thanks fir the response exspendaholic. Oh I really am torn. I am trying to get the card paid off so every little helps. Will wait and see how I feel when the acceptance forms comes.
