Help, Claiming from Halifax Credit Card

Right,

I calculated the charges with interest and the total amount came to: £1780.33!!!
Sent the letter yesterday requesting the full amount, hoping to pay of the £1000 on the card and the change will be v.handy seen as Im a SAHM.

So we'll have to see what the outcome is, I wonder if they will pay out the full amount, has anyone else managed to get Halifax to pay the full amount with interest without going to court or the FO?

Well done please let us know how you get on I have to get on Halifax's case myself and reclaim charges and PPI so was great to see your thread and Ex-Spendaholic's info, thansk to you both.

I am just writing my letter to request charges for my Hellifax CC - they told me I had to write in so I am not impressed!

Stick with it...I got £919 pounds refund from the halifax...

Took about 10 weeks from start to finish but got there in the end...

Oh I will - they have got on my wick good stylee this time so I will not take no for an answer.
Best of it is, I remember a couple of years back ringing Halifax for something and the little chap even said to me, you've accrued x amount of charges just this year - so why should I have to write when they have the info sitting in front of them.

Right well this is the next update in my quest to claim my money back from 'Hellifax'.

I have recieved an offer of £604.00!!! Purlease, thats less than half of what I asked for!! Wouldnt even clear the credit card outstanding! I atleast want to clear it. Here is part of the letter recieved:

Thankyou for your recent complaint about charges to your account. Im sorry you are unhappy, but pleased I am able to help.

I am delighted to offer you a payment of £604.00. Whilst not agreeing with the analysis of defult fees in the Office of Fair Trading's statement in April 2006, nevertheless we reduced these fees to £12 with effect from August 2006. Therefore as a goodwill gesture this offer is equal to the difference between the amount you were charged and £12.

Blah Blah

So what next. Obviously I want the full amount or at leaset enough to pay the card off. Sitting awaiting advice, as not sure which letter to send or wether to call. If I ring what do I say? Jeez Im so crap at anything like this.

Phone them. Tell them you aren't happy and want the whole amount. They will then "escalate" your claim. In a week or 2 you should get offered the lot. Thats how it happened for me anyway.

As promised I will continue to update and hope that this thread will help others who also want to claim off of 'Hellifax'!

I called them as you said, they advised that Im well with-in my rights to decline the offer and they have escelated my claim. They also said I should hear back with-in 10 - 14 working days.

So here's hoping I get the full amount. If I do Ex-Spendaholic I owe you a pint!!:rotfl:
