Right, this in this circumstance is what revoked licence means to you. Please note a revoked licence can mean other things to other people in different circumstances and this is only applicable to the OP.
I imagine that you got 6pts for no insurance (maybe more) but just to make it easier to understand, because your case will be a bit different, for the moment I'm going to work on that you got 3pts.
What revoked means, is that your current bit of paper and the photocard has been recalled by the DVLA, your ability to drive has not been taken away and you are not required to take your test again. What they are asking you to do, is to surrender your licence (send it to the DVLA) to have the points put on it and you have 12 months in which to get this done. Basically they're putting the thumsb screws on you, to do what you should have already done. Otherwise people would get endorsements and just never hand over their licence.
So, you send off the licence (plus £17.50) they put the 3pts on and you're in the clear and get your licence back. If you don't do it within the 12 months then you are not entitled to drive as technically you don't have a licence. But you can still send off the licence after this date and get it back. If you are caught driving after the 12 months, not having sent your licence off, then you are driving without a licence and will end up in court again.
So in summary for most people, it's a case of send your licence in with £17.50 and all sorted. This happened to me for a 3pt speeding fine, sent the money off, but held on to the licence becuase I was just about to go on holiday and had a hire car booked and needed to take my licence with me. So I'm speaking from experience of the process.
However your case is slightly different as you already have 6pts and will probably have received another 6pts and under the totting up process are due a disqualification when they see your licence already has 6pts. This bit I'm not sure about, it may be that the DVLA will have standard guidelines and write to you to tell you, you are disqualified for a certain period, or it may have to be refered back to court for sentencing. Unless you can plead some special mitigation/extenuating circumstances, you'll get a disqualification.0 -
Hi my name is Steve.
I had passed my test in 2008 with 6 points on. I had a conviction driving conviction with 6 points from last september which in effects makes me have 12 points total. But the courts or judges said i can drive under the extreme hardship. What I thought was it, But the DVLA are saying under the New Drivers Act 1995 my car license has been revoked and this is really stressing me out, cos im not sure who is right, cos whats the point the court saying i can keep my license and the dvla has revoked my license under the new drivers act.
Can anyone please advise me please cos really stressed and i want to keep my license. If i lose my license, it means i will lose my house and job.
Please help.0 -

I suggest you perhaps need more specialist advice than on this forum if it depends on house and job.
I am no expert and might be reading this wrong but basics are-
*You had 6 points before passing driving test
*You've then picked up another 6 points making 12 within 2 years of your test.
Now this is my opinion on that- As you reached 12 you're eligible for a topping up ban and obviously told the court you would be in hardship. As such the court has not imposed the ban part for totting up but because of the new drivers act you've gained enough points since passing your test to go to 6 points or over (even 1, 3 or 4 points would have done this because of 6 pre-test IIRC) and thus your entitlement has been revoked by the DVLA because of the New Drivers act. In this case your not banned, but need to sit a test again, and are subject to being a learner again so L plates and no solo drives.
Anyone else think that is right?0 -
Yes, I agree with Flyingscotno1.0

flyingscotno1 is spot on.
You will have to surrender your full licence to the DVLA, then apply for a new provisional licence and finally take your driving test again.0 -
Have you informed your insurance company as to what has happened ? you say you are now insured, did you declare the revocation of your licence ? that must have cost a small fortune0

Judging by your driving history over such a short time, taking a new test would probably be a good idea.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0
