your license can be revoked if you fail to surrender it to the courts to have points added after a conviction0

It is true - but they may have been misinformed as to the reason, which is why they are saying he can continue to drive for another 12 months if there is no reason he knows of why he shouldn't!
Why argue? Just trying to help. The op asked how can he be allowed to continue driving (as his letter says), and I have tried to explain why.
I'm not arguing with you, I'm telling you that you are incorrect.
You said "you are disqualified", not necessarily and certainly, because you have had your licence revoked, does not mean you are disqualified.0 -
Its good news that you have been banned. It shows me that in fact the law is working in regards to muppets who drive without insurance, without regard for any other road user.
Maybe you should check this:

and then when you get your license back in 12 months hopefully you will have learnt from your mistake.0 -

OP - Any joy calling the DVLA?
See how helpful the OP would have been if it had been your car he hit whilst driving uninsured. Do you think he would have paid your repairs out of his pocket?
I doubt it.
I feel absolutely no sympathy for uninsured drivers. I mean i know this is a money saving site and not having insurance does save money. But the guy is a muppet and he deserves every single second of the ban he has got.0 -
Sorry? Did I mention his past behavior that has been punished by the law of this land? The OP came for advice on his situation not for you to stick your nose into something for which he has been previously punished.
Are you a Saint?

Hi and thanks for all your replies. I knew this thread would cause a stir which is why I am angry with myself, anyway as far as I know, I have not been disqualified as the letter states that I can drive for a maximum of 12 months, but I am going to ring the DVLA tommorow to find out what is happening. Ther reason i got the letter is because I should have sent my license off to be endorsed for driving without insurance, stupid me, I totally forgot about the letter and now my license has been revoked. I am still confused as they want me to send my license off but I can still drive for 12 months??
Any replies would be appreciated.0 -
You can keep driving because you haven't been banned.
They will return your licence with the endorsement on it.0 -
