do/did OP get any reminders from the dealer, fr upcoming milegage service? i still get mailshots from a garage where I had an MOT, even though car since scrapped ages ago!Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
Did you get any documentation stating the mileage when you handed over the car? If so, you could show them a copy and the £750 bill should become non existent!!0

No way would it be sold without FSH for such a minor thing. Keep on pushing it!0

I've got proof of what the mileage was on collection and when they did there second inspection, which suggests to me that the extra miles were out on after I handed it over!!
No further forward today, so have to wait until monday now!!0 -

Bulldog, appreciate what you are doing, but I think you may need to step up the aggression on this a touch. They are taking you for a ride and it is important that you properly dispute this.
You are coming across as a really nice, decent chap. Sometimes, that has to be put to one side.0 -

Does your proof state less than 25,000 miles, if so they haven't got a leg to stand on? Can I ask what general region the BMW garage is located?0 -
With a MINI there is no set mileage for servicing. When the car has been serviced and the service indicator reset, it tells you the mileage to the next service and the car 'counts down' to the next service.
The 'counting down' is not a straight 1 mile = 1 mile, if you drive it when cold 1 mile = 2 miles, if you drive it over a certain rev limit 1 mile = 2 miles, if you drive it over a certain rev limit when cold 1 mile = 4 miles, if you drive it below a certain rev limit when warm, 1 mile =1/2 mile, etc. So although notionally the next service is at 25,000 miles, you may have done 22,000 or 28,000 before the 'count down' reaches zero.
Under the TLC pre-paid servicing MINI will not service the car more than 1000 miles early. The only exception is if you do a very low mileage, when it should be serviced every 2 years, irrespective of whether the 'count down' has reached zero or not.
The 'count down' is displayed every time you turn the engine on, so it is not something that you are likely to miss.0 -
