My first answer was since I started my new job at the beginning of the year I have no time for hobbies, but then when I thought about it a bit more I came up with the usual suspect list (are they or aren't they hobbies?) TV, cinema, reading (I read a LOT), shopping??, plus card making, cross stitch, book club.
One I wasn't sure how to categorise is my voluntary work - I answer phones for the Samaritans. Can this be classed as a hobby? On the one hand it doesn't cost me anything, and no-one actually makes money doing what I do because while the Sams employ full-time fundraisers everyone who answers the phone is a volunteer, but I give up my free time to do it, I've made a lot of friends through doing it, and sometimes, when I take a call that really seems worthwhile, I do actually enjoy it.
Oh, and as of next saturday I have a new hobby - I start horse riding lessons. Eek, what was I thinking??!OS weight loss challenge: 4.5/6 lbs0 -
mmmm, the need to moneysave has stopped most of my hobbies/fave pastimes which is ultra depressing but i do love doing voluntary work currently.
My fav hobby is driving...i just cant afford to do it much anymore.I also used to really love the gym and i miss it loads and loads. Wish i could join again.
Horses are another favourite and one day would love to get back into that. I also love trips to cinema.DFW 228 LONG H 68

My husband makes a living building steam engines for other (rich) people to run in their garden. Very beautiful they are too. Of course he had to build a "test track" (well that's what he told Gordon Brown it is) in our garden too....
My hobbies/pastimes are furnishing my dolls house, tracing our family history, playing with and training our cats and money saving!!ilovefreegle.org - give it away don't throw it away0 -
I don't know if the things I do classed as hobbies and I don't do any of them with a real passion any more but I like to read, write stories, write letters, cross stitch, knit, bake and watch T.V and films. I also like decorating and home design.
There are things I would like to e.g learn to horse ride properly but there is always the money problem to stop it.0 -
My Hobby is teaching Army Cadets as an Adult Instructor. I love it sooo much. I parade 2 times a week, when I don't get paid - but do about one weekend a month and a whole week in the year, where I go away on camps. For this you earn regular soldier Sargeant pay, about £50 a day. So for a weekend I get £100! Brilliant!0

I think it's great that people have hobbies and interests. Nice to see though that I have a few hobbies that shared by some other members of the forum; I too am collecting model railway stuff and hope within a few weeks to start building a permanent layout after many years of just admiring stuff in their boxes. I also like listening to Northern Soul music, and a hobby shared by all members of the family is going to see Swansea City football team play whenever we can afford to!
