Does anyone know if it makes any difference whether you scan your tesco clubcard and then pay with your tesco credit card, or if it is best just to give over your tesco creditcard for the points and payment????

Was told to give over both cards but then someone else told me you will not get the double points that you are meant to get with your creditcard if you put the points through your clubcard first.

I am confused....... anyone help enlighten me or if doesnt make any difference at all.

You don't get double points with a credit card - you get points for each pound spent on your credit card anywhere and points for each pound spent on your clubcard at Tesco. So it won't matter how you use it, you'll still get your points on your clubcard and the points on your credit card for spending money. You don't actually need to hand over your clubcard - you can just use your credit card if you like - you're just scanning the same thing twice, if that makes sense? Unless of course you have a few clubcards and want some points to go on that card and gain some on your credit card separately.

The exception to this is the clubcard plus, but I don't feel qualified to advise you on this, as I don't have one - prob best to surf back through posts on here.

I've not quite gathered the idea of the Tesco Clubs ... do you have to make purchases with the coupons/vouchers they send to get the ponts

i.e with Baby/Toddler club you have to purchase baby gear etc and with wine club you have to purchase wine?

If so... neither of the above apply to me... so where do I benefit?

P.S.. I have Tesco Clubcard Plus and also the Credit Card.

Yes, you do generally have to buy related some stuff like nappies or whatever, but sometimes they send you 25 bonus points for being a member of X club (although that may just be the healthy living club).

I`ve just got into the idea of picking up receipts that have uncollected points on them. I`ve noticed that when I reclaim the points, sometimes the staff scrawl through the bar code with a pen to presumably stop you from using the receipt again.

What happens if they just hand you the receipt back, can you use it again, or is there someway that Tesco know you have reclaimed the points on the receipt?

I was doing this as well, it's just like picking up 20p on the floor, isn't it? But then one day whilst at the selfscan at 2am, the girl got a call on her walkie talkie from security to move away from the self scan area. She took a few paces away and the security guard told her "thats the one that 'does the receipts' " - talking about me. Now I feel bad about doing it. Should I feel bad or should I continue?
I miss too many pages due to work so if you need an answer from me, please send me a PM.

  • I put all my extra points vouchers through the self scan today and got over 1,200 points for a £34 spend. That's £48 in deals. I was actually paid to go shopping. :j FREE SHOPPING - now that can't be bad.

    Hello Everyone

I have the Tesco Credit Card but am thinking about getting the Clubcard Plus Card. I have a question - can I use it to shop for Tesco groceries online? I often shop online going through Mysupermarket to get the Ipoints and then use money off codes from MSE and other sites to cover the delivery charge and save money as well. If I can double my points too that would be fantastic. I am starting to save for a 25th Anniversary trip to NZ in 4 years time!!

I'm a bit new to all this, maybe someone can advise. I opened my clubcard account about 4 months ago and applied for a Clubcard credit card shortly afterwards. My understanding was that while shopping in Tesco I would receive 1 point per £1 spent as a Clubcard member and an additional 5 points for every £4 spent assuming I paid with the credit card, in addition I would receive 1 point for every £4 spent on the credit card outwith Tesco.

I have just received my clubcard statement which shows 513 points from Tesco stores (which is probably about correct) but only 520 points from Tesco Finance. I went over my statements and for the last three monts up to the cut off date I spent £427 on the card at Tesco and £1841 on the card elsewhere. By my calculations this should mean 533 plus 460 points respectively.

I just want to check I'm not missing anything before I start complaing to Tesco
