Hello all, I spent yesterday evening weighing up the option of Airmiles (even on the current doubling up) against using the 4 x value for holiday vouchers. And the Airmiles were easily the less cost effective option.
Have others found this to be the same?0 -

Having done the Airmiles the once I ddin't find this a very cost effective option generally, no experience of doing the holiday vouchers though2p off is still 2p off!0 -

So, you are saying that it is better to convert to holiday vouchers than airmiles. I am currently to try to get as many Tesco CC vouchers as possible before converting to airmiles at the end of Jan, so would be interested to hear your thoughts.
I do think thatit does depend on when you book your flights for. I.e. The flights in the summer holidays generally will be much more expensive, but with airmiles, they seems to cost the same all year round. Also airmiles gives you added flexibility I think??

I do generally find that booking Holidays is better through the other companies but also the choice is getting more limited by the maximun restrictions placed on some companies.
This year I am aiming for 1 week in the south of France on a boat around the canals of France.

Depends where you want to go!
We've used Tesco vouchers for Virgin Holidays a couple of times, but fancy going somewhere different next time - somewhere Virgin don't go to!

Hello responders. I can get a week in New York in June for £175 of Clubcard Vouchers (£700 of Virgin Vouchers) plus £500. It would cost me £500 of Clubcard Vouchers to convert into Airmiles that I would need to pay for a hotel. And I would have to pay £400 cash for my flight. Although I do concede that the Airmiles hotel is better. The maths point me to Virgin Holidays.0

Using that calculation I'd have to agree, but £500 of Clubcard vouchers = 24000 Airmiles using the current offer (if you haven't changed clubcard vouchers for Airmiles before)
That's an awful lot of Airmiles to 'spend' on a week's hotel accomodation! (You could get 3 flights to Tokyo/Singapore/Cape Town/Rio De Janeiro/Vancouver for that!)
Flight to NY is 5000 Airmiles
What about if you booked your flights with Airmiles using Clubcard vouchers (5000 Airmiles = £42.50 worth of Clubcard vouchers using the current offer) and you book the hotel independently? Would that work out cheaper?2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

with the 2x airmiles deal i think its not too bad.
For example flights to thailand would cost around 800 quid for 2 people... and could be up to 1200 quid. To get 16000 airmiles (enough miles for 2 people) You need 333.33 pound of tesco clubcard vouchers.
So return trip to thailand = 333.33 with airmiles which would be worth 1333 quid in holiday vouchers.
The thing about thailand is... is that you want to 'move hotel' alot... travel... and see the sights... mabe even take a train up and down from phuket to bangkok... something that a holiday package wont give you.
Also the big thing for me is.. that so long as i have a lloyds tsb airmiles card my airmiles will last for years... meaning I could bank the miles now... and use them in 5 years time. Something that i cant do with tesco voucher ones. I'm not sure i'd be able to get such a good holiday with cosmos and virgin as a fly to thailand adventure :P0
