Tell me about it! I'm paying a few pounds in interest at the moment, as I still have the old Moneyback account which has good rates for overdrawn folks, but I am in my overdraft for about 20 days a month at present, and £20 in charges will ruin my DFW ways.

I am going to try and pay it off by the time that the changes come into effect, but that will be about £800 in 2 months which isn't realistic for me. Looks like I am going to be moving from the bank I have been with for years

I guess if people need to move bank accounts then some money might be had from Quidco or the likes....First Direct are offering £100 and another £100 after 6 months to switch (but you do need to have a fair amount going into the account each month)....£1 a day sounds really steep!

well i was looking at switching banks anyway now but i think once one does it they all will do it too
  • Hi all
Well done for all the amounts - do please remember that those 5ps are still extra payments. Some days all that goes into my moneybox are just a few coppers but it does all add up and some days there are extra pounds to pay off.

I know you all know this but its worth saying it again. Anything at all that you can pay off will be going to bring the overall debt down which means less interest which means the next fixed payment will also be taking more off the big total. I know its frustrating to see it just nudging down but it is still going down which is brilliant.

I've also found, as others have commented, that this challenge becomes a way of life - I do think more about what I'm spending, especially on things that maybe aren't so necessary so that I can keep on the trend.

December is a tougher month than most so all payments have to receive extra applause as its an expensive time and there are so many other things to pay for as well as the usual (expensive) stuff. :T

I hope you are all as proud of yourselves for tackling this stuff as I am of all of us - doing something rather than nothing has to be the right way to go. Group hug!!HShugs.gif

Ooops forgot to say £10.59 for me - m/s payment finally came in! Gonna get that £150 target by the end of the month somehow..... I hope.

  • Good afternoon all

Thank you for all your support and commiserations about my car (with the exception of those who laughed ... I will not shame and name - you know who you are ...) It is being fixed tomorrow hopefully.

Pay day today, managed to leave money in bank to reduce orrible o/d. Bank charges were £13  Trying to give them up!!

As I have to pay for car to be fixed this week o/d may go up again. Paying by cheque will help.... will not clear for a few days and then there is holiday so might not clear til after Xmas ... here's hoping.

Good news ! Phoned gas co and got different deal on gas service plan, saving me a massive £12 a month!!!!!:j

Bye for now, have a good day

    miss t
