  • I love this challenge, and cant wait till my wages clear in my account on monday so I can make some more payments. been a little skint the last few days so not managed to make more than a penny a day payment into my bag, but as least it keeps the habit up. I have about an extra £12 to pay onto my barclay card on Monday so that will be £32 intotal. That means since I started this challenge around the 4th of September I have made a total of £40 in extra payments to my card, add on the £20 min payment, thats £60. If I keep going at this rate I can prob have card paid off in a year, yipppeeee.

  • I know, its so funny how before we started dealing with our debts a lot of us probably blanched at the thought of even paying £1 towards any of them, let alone money a DAY! I'm finding it fun and addictive too, just 3 days in :D

It's lovely having all this support here too :A

Anyhoo, a whopping £13.01 today - didn't realise i had so much left at the end of the week!! :D
  • Sorry if this has all be said before, but I couldn't read all the posts, I'd be here till next Friday!

I have debts of about £5k, and the interest etc is stopped (one credit card and one overdraft - can't use either), how do you pay in money everyday? I only get a statement once a month from Tesco (credit card) and I generally pay them £12 a month (debt is £2k), at this rate I could be paying them back forever. I'd really like to clear this debt first, I'm on benefits but hope to go back to work eventually - and I'd like to get rid of my debts!

So how do you pay them everyday? Do some people save all month then pay them? Or what? Sorry to sound thick but I only get one paying in slip a month for this card............................ and I suppose you could say today is my lightbulb moment, I can't bear having these debts anymore.:o

Hello! Some people save money in a jar on a daily basis and then pay it into the bank at the end of the month or others, like me, use online banking to transfer a payment everyday even if it's a few pence.

The whole ethos is that every little bit counts. Instead of buying take away coffees etc people are adding that money to their 'jar' and then using it against a debt.

It's up to you which debt you decide to focus on. I'm paying an outstanding phone bill for hubby and adding to my savings everyday. I'm also saving loose change and £2 coins which i will combine and put towards our spending money for our hol in October.

So many irons in the fire :D

I haven't been posting over last couple of days as my friend and her kids were here. I've had great fun with them but had such itchy fingers to get on here!

Have added to both the 'phone account and savings over both days though. Will be paid next week so can pay off 'phone altogether and get started on some serious debt :D

  • Morning all

I have paid my usual £1.20 today but looks like i will have to drop my payments quite alot as DH has been laid off and looks like it will be pewrmanent. (kind of wrecks my plans a bit). Anyhoo I will still try to pay something even if it is just a penny a day to keep it going and hopefully things will get better.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend

  • Morning everyone and welcome more newbies!

I feel like I am part of an exclusive little club of people who are dealing with their money daily and are going to be debt-free much quicker than others not in this challenge haha! x

Still have to wait until next thursday for any money, luckily I have food in and now have to do a lot of 'no-spend days' between now and then! I still have a penny in my account!
It's actually interesting to know you have managed your money well and paid off debts and have NOTHING to spend on rubbish for a few days! It's helping me cure my 'pass-a-shop-and-buy-something' and the 'loose change burning a hole in my pocket' feeling!

Hope everyone has a good weekend! x
  • Have transfered £1.89 to my savings account this morning, have to wait a few days for another biggy payment to come through, have updated my totals.

Keep going and hope you all have a great weekend!

  • Hi, just saw this thread, and what a fantastic idea!! There is generally a bit of money sitting in my current account, we are talking small, less than $10 for small purchases, and it seems to disappear and this is a better place than some for it to disappear too lol.

Also, it gives you a focus everyday, :T

Wow, I am just so impressed with this idea, I want to go and transfer a bit right now
