I find it is usually dificult for a sales person to come back with a single figure of the amount they want for the car. but push them and they will come back with a number eventually. If they don't then get up and leave and tell them why it usually forces them in to giving you the price then you can start knockin them down, a good way is to look for faults in the car slightest marks etc can all be used to knock the prices down.

    Good advice.;)

A small tip for you when buying Peugeot. The company opperates a fleet of veichles for all their employees they get a brand new car to their own request so if they want a 207cc with all the bells and whistles that is what they get. When their car aproaches 6000 miles they order a new car the car when it reaches 6000 miles goes in to the used car market and is available for peugeot dealerships to take on and sell. The car is inspected for faults etc and the employee is fined for any mark so these cars are well looked after.

And you wonder why car manufacturers are losing money hand over fist.
I've given up trying to get my signature to work with the new rules, if nobody knows what the rules are what hope do we have?

It doesnt cost peugeot anything really, cars don't cost the window price to build peugeot make money on every car they sell when new or you wouldnt get dealerships who need to be able to make a profit on what they sell. everyone gets a peice of the pie. most of the difference between a car with 6000 miles on it and a new one is the VAT. Peugeot keep their employees happy and get more cars sold as they are a fair bit cheaper with 6000 miles on them than when new so peopple are prepared to buy them. that has othre benefits to dealers and Peugeot in after sales and mainly the fact that people usually stick to buying the same brand so they go back each time and buy another peugeot.
  • Hello to everyone that gave me advice!

I am now the proud owner of a new car! I went for a 07 reg peugout 307 cc. It's got less than 8000 miles and after intense haggling I got it with a trade in for £10381 (a years tax included!) It was on sale orginally for £11500 (plus tax), So I think I got a good deal as my vectra has to many miles and a few scratches on it to be worth anything! So i'm really pleased!

Thank you all for your advice! It gave me the confindence to buy what I wanted at the price I wanted!
