Goodbye:hello: and tons of GOOD LUCK in your new home:DTurn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you.0

I thought you hadn't posted for a while.
You've travelled around more than most in your search, so I'm delighted you've finally found that place that suits MIL and the horses. As you say, no need to care what prices do now, because you can get on with your life instead of just existing in temporary limbo. Houses cost too much, but lives are priceless!
Au revoir,

Yeah it is actually extraordinarily cruel of me, and out-of-character, but his signing-off whine forced me in to it.
If he'd told us he'd got a great deal, saved significant money from peak prices, has made a financially manageable decision, then I'd be happy for him.0 -
 Enjoy....any DIY to be getting on with? Hope all goes fantastically for you all.0

why not just be happy for him, anyway?

good luck, man, with the new pad. I know you've been looking around, trying to find a decent place for some time.
here's hoping all works out well.miladdo0 -
The parting shots seem more to do with his own decision to buy, and not about the forums themselves > which are mostly to share information and discussion about house prices.jamescredmond wrote: »what the.......................???

Because of the parting whine !!!!!!.merlinthehappypig wrote: »I won't be posting any longer. Having spent all our money on the house I no longer need any investment advice. If prices go up I don't care as I will not ever be STR again. If they go down more I don't want to know!
Sadly the housing forums are not a fun place any longer.
The discussion itself has always been insightful fun mix of factual to the sharing of personal views, which always are fun for me whether they have a positive or negative outlook on the market.
The very few threads which do go a bit ott or troll-ish or tiresome can be sped-read, skipped, or just closed... as there are always more genuinely more interesting threads in play and coming on daily basis.
I think the parting shots are more to do with it not being "fun" for him, as with more negative news is in store, now that he has bought, he isn't going to delight in ... indeed posting on the day the papers were full of stories about a possible stamp-duty holiday, and a couple of days prior to Halifax's reported 1.7% July falls.0 -
Its becoming quite fashionable to have a leaving thread. Someone else did one a while ago and inflated his ego by getting all the girls to cry and wail, how he would be missed etc. (IMHO of course)
Now of course I'm not saying Merlin is going to do an about turn and come back in a few days, like someone else might have done.
Anyway, I'd just like to boast, that even though I don't need any investment advice either and these boards aren't as much fun as before (probably because everyone sane knows we are in a housing crash now) I shall still be reading and posting now and again.
Although I do reserve the right to have a big leaving thread some time in the future and come back with a new name.
