All the best in your new home Merlin
I hope youll all be happy and settled for a long while to come   Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I hope you are all very happy in your new pad....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Good-bye threads are so pointless when there is a bolschy barb leftover with it.
The only good-bye threads I want to read are those leaving with happiness....
I'm looking forward to the market astonishing !!!!!! and him acquiring a dream place at the bottom of the market for the 3x salary he has got tucked away, with little need for any big borrowings.
And I want to read this:neverdespairgirl wrote: »Bought our dream house - fabulous bargain - just can't believe it - I'm so happy.:D

How much did you pay for it?
Ha - only kidding! I think people should remember that this is a money saving website, not a money making website (except for Martin, that is).
If prices are going down on ANYTHING then it is generally regarded as a good thing on this website. If people don't agree that house prices going down is a good thing, largely because they are investors and not consumers, then perhaps they should frequent investment forums instead rather than trolling on this one.
This is a domestic consumer website, not a business investment website.
I've also disliked the recent unpleasantness and not posted for a while because of it. I'm not ready to abandon the board just yet but I certainly don't find the banter quite as enjoyable as I once did.
Merlin, I hope you (and your family?) enjoy your new home. As a FTB-to-be I'm still staying put (probably for a few more years) but we all have our own circumstances and considerations.
I'm sure you've done the best thing for you, which is all you can really do. Good luck.

I can't say I've had too much involvement on the housing threads largely because of the polarised views. I someone wants to buy a house thats great. If someone doesn't, then thats great too. As long as everyone is happy it doesn't matter.
Whatever we do in life, there is always someone that will tell you to do this, do that, say this, say that. You can never please everyone in life because people have their own opinions.
I hope you enjoy your house Merlin. It'll be sad to see you go because I too loved your login name (as PasturesNew has already indicated). Hope everything works out for you.0 -
Goodbye Merlin. I hope you and yours will be very happy in your new house.RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

I won't be posting any longer. Having spent all our money on the house I no longer need any investment advice. If prices go up I don't care as I will not ever be STR again. If they go down more I don't want to know!
Sadly the housing forums are not a fun place any longer. I haven't posted much anyway in the last month or two, but do read posts from time to time. I even agree with Mr Broderick (finally!), that people on both sides of the argument are being unpleasant these days.
Good luck to everyone on here, especially the long-term members (too many names to list, but you know who you are). I hope everyone gets what they want.
I was rude to you twice last month and i am sorry for that, you are a gentleman. Thankyou for naming me in your farewell thread, it takes bravery to actually say you agree with me, not everyone on here has the guts to do that. Good Luck for the future, you made the right decision,0 -
If my views put me on the nasty side then so be it.
I just put the telly on and Homes Under The Hammer was on.... couple bought their house for £120,000 in 2002...... and fancy agent comes along telling them to put it on the market for £420,000.
Well done on spending all your money. Last thing I'd do is put all my liquidity in to property. BYE. CYA.
Do you think that post was necessary on merlins farewell thread? Has the word tact been lost on everyone?
