Back to 17p in my Tesco this morning...0

I shouldn't imagine that the UK would allow untested toothpaste on supermarket shelves.
And aren't the "economy" brands all just the main brands repackaged?0 -

What if the toothpaste contains 1450ppm F and 4% anti-freeze, as the toothpaste from China did?
Saying a toothpaste is is ok just because one of the ingredients is ok is really stupid. One or more of the other ingredients may be toxic.
Plus not everyone agrees that fluoride in toothpaste is a good thing.

Sorry for making a contribution. Didn't know I was going to be trouted like that! I will keep my mouth shut next time.
I was not giving anybody any advice, actually. I was not recommending this particular 2p toothpaste. Of couse nobody is knowkinly going to buy a toothpaste that it has got 4% anti-freeze, rat poison, super glue or any toxic ingredient. I didn't realise that you have to tell people these things.
My point was that any toothpaste with 1400 ppm F is good regardless of the brand and that the person who is buying agrees with fluoride being an ingredient in toothpastes, but again, i didnt know that I had to specify that much. I just assumed that if you buy a conventional toothpaste is because you agree with it. Sorry again for contributing.
The flouride thing isn't so good for people like me with thyroid problems, nor is it good for children to get too much.....I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

I think you'll find they only have to produce a certificate to say they have been tested. There are many people in the world who will forge a certificate.
After all, it would be a lot easier than bleaching chicken that is unfit for human consumption and putting it pies/ready meals.
We don't live in a world where all people obey all laws. And whenever a government says "we won't allow that" many people think "yes, but you will never catch me doing it".0 -

They're decent too. I just picked up one pack initially about a month ago, expecting them to be very runny and basic - on the contrary though. They have a nice consistency and also have pieces of fruit in. Not bad at all - got a couple of packs in the fridge as we speakAug11 £193.29/£240

I have been buying tescos value yoghurts for a couple of years and they were for a long time 29p for 4 then they introduced a single strawberry at 17p each and the four pack size dropped to 15p which was even better value in my opinion.Today in the local Metro shop they had shot up in the space of two days to 40p for 4.I think its what they sometimes call a loss-leader. I will do without them until they get back to under 30p as I don't like to think they are messing around with priceing like this.If sainsbobs have them at a reasonable price then I shall get them there.I usually pour the cheaper yohurts over fruit like a cream ,great with fresh soft fruit in the summer and cheaper than cream.0

Re the kids fromage frais- I am sure I remember reading on the label they were made with skimmed milk, so not so good for under 5's! Think there is some other junk added to, which to be fair is added to a lot of these!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

But 'Too much' is usually when they eat the stuff regularly. Not what they're liable to be exposed to in the normal course of brushing their teeth.
As for thyroid problems, again, the amount you're likely to be exposed to in the normal course of brushing your teeth - or even if you're in an area with fluoridated water - is too low to be of any concern.
The British Thyroid Association produced a release to reassure sufferers a few years ago.
http://www.british-thyroid-association.org/Guidelines/Docs/B_F_S.pdfHow to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
