I've been finding a lot of the value products are suprisingly really good.
Two of my favourites are the Tortilla Chips, and Fun Fruits (sweets).
Perhaps we should have a separate thread (or use this one) for highly recommended Tesco value products0 -

Is it made in China? There was some bad publicity about cheap toothpaste made there. It scared me back to the main brands. Hope they're not made in China too!" The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Now there's a funny thing. I've just looked at their value toothpaste, plus two more types of their own brand toothpaste.
None of them say where they are made and they don't list the ingredients.
Looking at a random sample of 6 branded toothpastes, I find that the ingredients are listed for those. But not the country of origin.
This leads me to believe Tesco don't want us to know what is in their own brand toothpastes.0 -
Yes, all Tesco toothpaste is made in China. It does state it on the pack, and it also states the ingredients (which is a legal requirement).
(I presume geordie joe is just referring to the info given on Tesco.com?)0 -

Hi!
Mum is a dental hygienist and she always says that a good toothpaste must contain 1300ppm F (Sodium Fluoride) or more. Good toothpastes have average of 1450ppm F so if you just look at the ingredients and it has 1400 or 1450 ppm F then it is ok, no matter the brand or the flavour.
I hope this helps. I recently bought Tesco Total Care freshmint toothpaste (I think i paid 59p for it) and I like he flavour and the feeling in my mouth. Would not pay three times for just a brank which is going to do the same service.

I think that is very bad advice.
What if the toothpaste contains 1450ppm F and 4% anti-freeze, as the toothpaste from China did?
Saying a toothpaste is is ok just because one of the ingredients is ok is really stupid. One or more of the other ingredients may be toxic.
Plus not everyone agrees that fluoride in toothpaste is a good thing.0 -

Sorry for making a contribution. Didn't know I was going to be trouted like that! I will keep my mouth shut next time.
I was not giving anybody any advice, actually. I was not recommending this particular 2p toothpaste. Of couse nobody is knowkinly going to buy a toothpaste that it has got 4% anti-freeze, rat poison, super glue or any toxic ingredient. I didn't realise that you have to tell people these things.
My point was that any toothpaste with 1400 ppm F is good regardless of the brand and that the person who is buying agrees with fluoride being an ingredient in toothpastes, but again, i didnt know that I had to specify that much. I just assumed that if you buy a conventional toothpaste is because you agree with it. Sorry again for contributing.0
