Hi Trixie, I think they would make a great monkey :D so stop monkeying around (yes yes its bad!) and get it done :D

For those who use the girlie hair bobbles as skirts then poundstretcher have a cerise one and a baby pink one (pk of 2) for 69p :) They look great. I grabbed some for the bairns hair earlier :)

Hello all, your sock monkeys are progressing well. I tried to make a sock dog at the weekend.... I need to develop the technique as I did for the monkeys as it just look hideous! I have put the address of my Etsy shop in my profile and would appreciate some monkey feedback - especially on the skirts!!

I know this thread is pretty long, and I've only managed to read about the first and last 5 pages, but I thought I must post this link to one of the best sets of instructions I've found online for making sock monkeys! (Thought it might be useful for any newbies to this thread like me).

Hi - Yes this is the tutorial alot of us use, it is very easy to follow. If the heel doesn't work for the nose you can substitute the toe piece. I do mine all by hand instead of by machine!

I bought some 'skirts' the weekend from Primark 4 for 1.00. They are pale colours - white, bluie, pink and lilac

Wow! I just found this thread and have spent ages looking at all the fab pictures! I love these!
Guess I'll be going to buy some socks tomorrow to make a few for gifts. I'm 38 weeks pregnant though so the number I actually make depends very much on when this baby decides to arrive!

Sounds like just what I need chatty123, and to use my new sewing machine, although I need to go out and find socks and stuffing first! And to think I almost bought some in Poundworld yesterday, pah!

By the way, do the knee-high socks work/look better than regular socks?
