Thanks lillian, were the arms fiddly because I would imagine they are difficult with them being so small and thin

It wasn't too bad. If you wanted to make it easier you could attach a safety pin inside that is tied to a string, and keep the string running through the middle while you're sewing the arm together - and then use the string to pull it right way out?

  • chatty123 - love the monkeys. DH had to stop me buying the same ones today cos I already had about 100 pairs in my basket haha.

Have made a boy monkey for yet another new baby on my road - I think he's rather cute. Picture doesn't show quite how neon he is though, he looks like a raver haha.

Not sure where I saw it but one site suggests not to use peas or lentils to weight it down as your toy can develop mites

Ok - so these are my next 2 monkeys. They are for my nieces for Christmas, the spotty one with no eyes is for youngest so I need to get some felt tomorrow and stitch on eyes! For the spotty one I used smaller socks, girls size 6-8.5 and they were easy enough to stitch and needed less stuffing.

Thanks Shelley - holiday was nice and relaxing, didn't think about sock monkeys for 1 whole week!!!!

I am going to start another small one tomorrow for gift! I bought some lovely baskets in QS yesterday and will fill them with gifts and sit the monkey on top and then wrap with cello. I ordered the curling ribbon on Thursday, hope I get it soon!! Do you use a pull bow as well as the curling ribbon??

    Thanks

I'm just looking at the pull bows and they are quite expensive so I think I will wait to see how I get on with the curling ribbons before ordering bows!!

    Hi all

These sock monkeys are a brilliant idea. I have made 4 and my 13 year old daughter has made one too, cant put pics at the moment as cant connect my phone to the computer.

Was searching the net for other pics of them and found this page. http://www.made-in-england.org/category/sock-monkeys-soft-toys Was in stitches (no pun intended) when I saw the third pic down from the top.
