woohoo first trial run of sock monkey is finished and quite impressed. just need to work on the bits I am not happy with on my next one, before I make the one for my nephew when I finally find some blue and white striped socks.
My first creation seems to have been adopted by our Choc Lab. Just need to work out how to load the photo.APR NSD - 0/10

Hi, I have just made my first 2 monkeys after finding them and falling in love with their quirkiness! I found this thread and I am currently up to page 57 (so still quite a bit of catching up to do!!)
Shelley3774, I am gobsmacked at how good your monkeys are - I think you had just started making them when the thread started! They are fab!!
I will try to upload my 2 so you can all meet them!
I have a quick question...I have stitched them by hand but would like to get a sewing machine to make it a bit quicker! Do you think that one of the little mini ones would be fine for doing them??
Speak soon

Possibly if you are only going to use them for monkey, they arn't hardwearing as they have a small motor. Over on the sewing thread people recommend getting a larger ones as they last longer. They arn't much dearer either. The large supermarkets sell budget range (I have one myself it's very reliabel and its taken some hammer!) HTH0

My dad is going to get me one from poundstretcher - they have a hyundai one for £49.99 I think it is 60 stitch so he is getting me that!0

I hope its alright! only cheap but don't want to spend a fortune on a machine that may not get used that much!!!
PS. I'm now up to page 100!!!! Half way there!0 -
Thanks so much Lesleyp1978
I love making them and get withdrawal symptoms when I don't! Work really gets in the way of my monkey making :rotfl: I wish I could win the lottery and give up work so I could make them all day long.
I've been asked to do a charity event tonight to raise monies for a little boy who needs an operation in America. Its a ladies pamper evening with lots of homemade items so I'm really looking forward to it. I've never done it before so its a bit nervewracking!! Its taken 2 weeks of hard work tho and i don't know if i will have time to do another for a little while. I've even had to rope in hubby and my stepdad to make me a wooden tree display and cube unit.
I did a mock up of my table in my dining room last night here is a piccie:Little Miss Chatterbox
