Just thought I'd show you all my latest sock monkey! Have discovered that the smaller socks (2 1/2 year old) are so much easier and quicker to make and they make great car monkey toys by adding suction cups to the hands.

I made this one as a gift for a friend to congradulate her on passing her driving test. He was an instant hit :T and has now been named Jeremiah.

Depends how big your bag of stuffing is. I get about 3-4 monkeys out of a 1kg bag of stuffing;) The eyes on my monkeys measure 19mm(white) and 15mm (black) but it's whatever you prefer:D

  • I made my first sock monkey lasr night :D He's a black and white stripy Newcastle United monkey for my boyfriend's Christmas present. He took me a few hours last night and a few hours this morning but all that's left now is to get some buttons for his eyes and sew a little mouth on. I'll post a pic of him when he has a face :)

This thread has alot to answer for!! Thanks everyone for being an inspiration! I've spent most of the day making my first monkey!

He's nowhere near as lovely as all the ones posted cos he's just a pair of almost plain socks (just with a different colour heel & toe) from the back of my drawer as a trial run.

I wasn't convinced I'd be able to do it so felt bad cutting up a brand new pair! But I am now going to have to go into town tomorrow to buy some groovy stripy socks & make some more!:D
  • I am soooo excited, ive just sat (at work!) and looked through this whole thread, i love the monkeys, they are all so cute!

Ive just text my friend who is in town & asked her to pick me up a pack of socks from Primark! :D

Ive got a sewing machine that has been stuck unused in the cupboard for months now but think it will be getting used at the weekend, dd would love one of these monkeys and depending on how it turns out i mite make a more for my nephews! :D
  • Has anyone tried glove animals?

Found instructions for a glove rabbit and glove dog which I thought people might be interested in:
