Nice quiet resorts in the Canaries

Another query!

Anyone know where is nice and quiet in the Canaries? I've heard good things about Puerto del Carmen but that's about it.

I would like:

Somewhere quiet with no lager lout types
A town/village nearby (i.e. not a resort in the middle of nowhere)
Golden sand beaches rather than volcanic ash

If anyone knows an actual resort/hotel that they love please feel free to tell me as I have never been to the Canaries and am going soon with a friend. We just want a total chill out holiday with no partying (but being close to a twon and restaurants etc would be nice).

Thanks in advance doods!

If memory serves me rightly (its a few years since I went) then Puerto del Carmen is probably one of the liveliest resort in the Canaries!

A far cry from "nice and quiet" the whole town centre was full of bars, nightclubs, english pubs and linekers bar!

Probably best avoided if you want quiet!

Fuerteventura has the golden sand you're after.
The main resorts are corralejo and Caleta de Fuste, but they're also the liveliest.
Jandia has probably the best beach on the island and is fairly quiet. There's restaurants and a few bars but it's certainly not a lager lout haven.

    Thanks for that vlloyds!

When you say lively, do you mean a lively town or Faliraki-style yob 'lively'?

It is, it's gorgeous, worth the drive along the lumpy dusty roads!

Nothing would make your holiday more than having a meal at the Rubicon Marina overlooking the water... sigh...

Another vote for Playa Blanca - I absolutely love it. It's quiet and relaxing, and although there are no nightclubs, there are loads of restaurants, and a few bars. There is a nice cobbled street with some shops, but you can easily hire a car or get the bus to visit another resort (Playa del Carmen, or they town of Arrecife). In addition, you can get the ferry over to Fuertaventura if you fancy a change of scenery. Playa Blanca is very picturesque and more classy than other resorts, and having dinner at the marina or one of the many restaurants along the front of the sea is heaven!
Saying all of that, everyone is different, so it's down to individual taste at the end of the day. Enjoy, wherever you go.

Maybe I should rephrase the original query!

I'd like a quiet hotel/area but near a town. Playa Blanca seems to be a clear favourite so far, thanks. Must check it out. Meanwhile, any other recommendations would be gratefully received (especially hotels).
