i bought a pair of earrings -admittedly they were only about 4 quid- when i got them home i noticed one rather large 'gem' had fallen off. i looked in the bag and couldnt see it so can only assume i bought it that way!...easy to do when in a rush to catch your bus with a hungry 11month old on your hands!...anyway
took them back (hadnt even taken them off the plastic holder) and asked if i could have a refund as they obviously break easily. she said no. I asked if i could have store credit etc...she said no because they are earrings. i told her i hadnt even taken them off the holder and she said it didnt matter.
she then said i could always exchange them for the same pair...but then again i couldnt really as they are earrings!
I understand the whole hygeine thing but surely if there is a genuine reason you should be allowed to get a refund!
as it happens they were for a fancy dress party that evening so ended up buying another pair from another shop AND wasted 2 bus journeys for nothing! its not on really!
The shop is one of my favourites so i am rather disappointed with their customer service. the woman was quite blunt with me AND she was the one who served me the earrings two days before!!
I have emailed them...still waiting to hear

Was it claire's acessories? I always find the stones fall out in the bag by the time I get home! Not very great quality. Well stuff without stones in is good but stuff with stones in never last.0

I recently bought a tub of Ben & Jerry's Cookie Dough Ice Cream, only problem was there was no cookie dough in it! I sent them an e-mail & just got a voucher for a free tub
It definitely pays to complain as long as you complain nicely

phoenix802 wrote: »Hi, Im starting uni at the end of the month and would like some free stationary, does anyone have any advice about how to get some samples by emailing the companies? Also which companies are good to try to get samples from?
Thanks guys
phoenix, once at uni if you go to the fresher's fair (which advertises all the clubs and societies you can join - usually in the first week), loads of companies attend too and give out pens, pencils, rulers, you name it!0 -
called mattel to complain as son fp3 player broke fantastic customer service item discontinued so they sent me £40 in toysrus vouchers as the replacement I wanted was out of stock.
Also sent my iron off to the company who made it because it was billowing black smoke out and burnt my daughters clothes and my ironing boarding. STILL waiting to hear from them.cracker challenge silver: £610/£1010.00 :jOne debt vs 100 days: 1000.00/0.000 -

All goods should be fit for the purpose and if faulty (especially after one day without having worn them) you should have had a refund straight away earings or not. The woman that served you obviously had an attitude problem! See Martins quiz about consumer rights but if I were you i would be asking for a refund of the earings and my bus fare! It's always worth asking to speak to the shop manager as someimes it's just the sales assistants with the wrong info. Good luck and let us know how you get on :j:T0 -
I recently bought a multi box of crisps from Aldi, my Father opened one packet to find it full of metallic "streamers" from the packaging machine. Sent it back to them with a lighthearted letter saying that we were impressed they included party accessories in their packs now.
They replied with a nice letter and £5 voucher.
The box of 25 crisps only cost me £1.39!0 -

Good on you for the light-hearted letter - it would have probably made a nice change from angry complaints letters (also, well done on your success).0
