Thank you its good to see that there are some reasonable people out there, i would like to see Woodworker and geoffky live with a one disability that affects your mobilitity let alone two, so they are suggesting a get a job ok, so who will look after my husband and my daughter whilst i do this? Who is going to feed cloth and make sure my child is safe when her Daddy cannot even walk properly let alone do much else for her! Tell me how would he get himself let alone my child down the stairs in an emergency?

If you want to slate somebody for not working why not go and do it to the people who dont work because they do not want to and not a wife who is looking after her disabled husband, do you think this is how we wanted to be living at 23????

And you automatically presume that we receive DLA, quite clearly that you arent aware that very few claims for DLA get accepted! My husband has two illnesses that despite his consultants backing and reports the disability tribunal didnt think that somebody who can barely walk, has one leg shorter than the other, has poor balance and coordination and has CONSTANT DIZZINESS cannot look after themselves and carry hot pans across a kitchen, that is why we now have a case worker fighting this decision as all my husbands Doctors and even CAB cannot believe that they said no.

And as for owning a PC again if you could read Woodworker you would know that up until my husband became ill with Meniere's disease he was working, last year! How dare you say what people should and should not own, if taxes are wasted on helping the sick then are they well spent on the lazy??

I suspect the first thing the OP needs to do is check they are claiming all they are entitled do. With housing benefit, dole, carers allowance, child benefit, DLA and various other benefits, they shouldn't be struggling like this.

Thats what i was trying to say as no way should she be struggling on the money you get for carers allowance disability living allowance and the disabled premium on housing benefit and tax credits or income support... its adds up to a lot a month

Thank you to the people who offer support as you have stated my husband didn't cause his illnesses and we didnt put ourselves in the situation it is stressful enough without narrow minded people being abusive when we ask for advice.

And no geoffky we shouldn't have to struggle the way we do but when you thought we were getting all the benefits you thought we were entitled to you were critiscising us, so tell me what would you prefer? That we keep struggling and have debts or claim everything we are entitled to and be called a waste of tax payers money?

was not it july last year if it is he should be on dla after six months unless they think he is not disabled?

Thanks i have spoken to shelter and they say we have a good case against the Council so, they have put me in touch with somebody who can judicially review this for us.

We have been fighting DLA for the last twelve months they have not said that my husband is not disabled they have in fact admitted that he is in a bad way and that he needs care but they still have not paid a penny we are still awaiting the statement of reasons from the tribunal as to why this is but like i have already posted, the chairman on the day thought somebody with poor balance and coordination, constant dizziness and one leg shorter than the other would be fine crossing a kitchen with a boiling pan of water in their hand, that is the only reason we were given on the day, which anybody with some common sense would not touch a pan of boiling water if they were constantly dizzy and cant walk properly in the first place.

My husband had two medicals last year for benefits, one for incapacity benefit of which the Doctor supported him completely and he is now on long term incapacity benefit. The same company did the report for DLA and also supported him in 90% of the report apart from the dizziness issue as i have previously stated in meniere's disease the dizziness should not be constant, but we can not be held responsible for the fact that a consultant has given a diagnosis that isnt stict to the symptoms that my husband suffers from. But despite all the support disability living allowance is still not being paid.

you must claim everything your entitled too unless you do the money will go towards killing people in iraq....your husband has paid his taxes hasn't he..

I agree 100% but we all know system is crap


I see people who drive DLA cars get full DLA and should have been knocked back at the first hurdle


Then i see real people who so need it and should be getting it having to fight it all the way
