Returned from Spain two weeks ago...telephoned the car valet service to bring the car to the airport....
they couldn't, the quite do that, as they,do written it off.
After two weeks of very slow response ....have been offered a derisory sum in compensation from the parking Co.
Pay the extra...leave it in a secure car park.0 -
We got an amazing deal on hotel and parking but still had to get from the airport to the hotel then back in the morning for our flight. We stayed at the Airport Inn, Gatwick. The shuttle cost £3 for adult (charges also for children, think it was £1.50) for a oneway trip. This means a family of four could pay upto £9 each way or walk approx 1mile. It is frustrating that pavements/lit walkways have not been provided! Having looked on google maps my other half decided to walk as it was so close. I took the bus due to the lack of footpaths and dual carriageways. By mistake he came across a footpath on the slipway off the roundabout onto the dual carriageway it followed the main road but was in woodland. It was not surfaced properly but dry weather meant it was possible. He walked into the hotel carpark as I arrived on the airport shuttle bus (with the children and suitcase)! In the morning we all decided to walk. Our buggy managed the few tree roots. The route did go over a bridge with four steps at either side. The footpath (to the airport) started in the corner of the Travel lodge carpark behind the Airport Inn. The walk took us about 20 minutes with the children. My six year old thought it was an adventure and great fun but I wouldn't choose to walk it if raining/wet!!
Are there other hotels/airports that you can walk to and avoid shuttle/taxi costs. :j0 -
Martin these tricks are fine but if you live in the vicinity of say Gatwick the local residents are fed up to the back teeth with people dumping their cars outside residential properties for 2 weeks and more. It's bad enough in Horley but has spread on occasions right out to Redhill DON'T DO IT0

Guys, any ideas how to cheaply drop off some people at Gatwick Airport?
Judging by their website there is no free option? :eek:0 -

Hello did you mean you stopped at the place gatwickguesthouse? The link you posted didn’t seem to work for me. Prices look very reasonable.
