I'm taking my daughter to Heathrow on Weds. I only need short term parking but someone told me its cheaper to park long stay and pay for just 12 hours. Is this true? Anyone dropped off/ picked up from there recently? or would parking at one of the Hounslow tube stations be cheaper?
Thanks in advance.0 -
if you have an rac membership, simply key in RAC and you get a 20% discount @ purple parking0

Probably too late for meeting your daughter back again. but this link might be useful to others:

When work took me to Heathrow from near Hampton Court, the predecessor to 111 used to be useful.
http://www.traveline.info/index.html
has maps and time tables showing exactly where the public transport goes.
When meeting someone from Heathrow, I would often park up somewhere north of the M4 (you will see lots of hire cars doing similar) and then get my visitor to phone me when they are making their way through customs.
I would then tell them to stand at a given spot at the departure drop off point and zoom in and pluck them off the curb side - job done.
(useful to have a hands free phone;)).0 -
if you use the code FRIEN, you get £10 off for heathrow parking
I keep receiving these offers from purple parking because I've used heathrow parking meet and greet several times but none for gatwick, which is what I'm lookin for0 -
I forgot to add something. To always check with the airlines if you could get a discount for parking. Many airlines offer meet and greet and even other kinds of parking discounts. For instance emirites & jet airways have offered meet and greet through purple parking when I booked with them. The best money saving for parking is to strike friendship with gorgeous looking crew members
You have to give it a try if nothing for the fun of it :rotfl: I think Martin will be proud of me. Honest, I was only messing. I have a first officer friend but would never expect or accept from them or any relatives living locally because it's so convenient to do things your way specially after a long journey.

RAC code works on purple parking without you being an RAC member. It just gave me a 32.5% discount on 25 days at Heathrow, which together with 15.5% cashback (topcashback - tracked) gave me Heathrow parking for £2.16 a day. Total cost: £53.99 for 25 days.
ITT code (corporate discount) now only offered me 14.4% discount (used to be 50%).
As an alternative, if you don't mind chancing it a bit, there's plenty of free parking in residential roads in Heston eg near Heston Pool, London red bus 111 frequent service between Heston and Heathrow (T1,2,3) runs along main road, journey time 5 minutes.0 -
Thanks I never used the RAC code; I simply posted that I saw in one of their websites offering it. I got a meet and greet offer, courtesy my airline, by request.
As for residential parking, it is simply never good enough an option for me. My journeys are invariably long and my return should be as hassle free as it could get.0 -

I was very pleased to find your suggestion (above) because I'm meeting some friends at Heathrow T4 in a couple of days time. The Heathrow Airport website says to use the expensive short term car park and that waiting on the arrivals forecourt is not allowed. Can I assume there's no space at arrivals to stop, even for 60 seconds, load luggage and passengers and drive off? Is there any downside, risk or threat when using/abusing the departure drop off point to pick up people with luggage instead?
Update 04 Jan - I picked up my friends at the terminal 4 drop off point and lots of other people seemed to be doing the same thing. It was very straightforward. Shortly after leaving the M25 at J14 I saw about a dozen taxis and other vehicles parked at the side of the dual carriageway, so I joined them in order to soak up spare time, before driving the final 2 or 3 miles to T4. Here's the spot where you can park. They should construct a proper lay by.0 -
When cheap parking gets expensive!!!
Hi All,
I'm looking for some advice here. I booked 14days parking with skyparksecure.com/drivefly.co.uk from 22nd Dec 2011 to this morning 5th Jan 2012. I went for the drivefly option costing me £75 through the moneysavinexpert website and was given the discount.
When my car was returned to me this morning at 7.35 my £150 satnav had been stolen!!
Now I have just received a reply from the company saying I signed (which I did not as it was all online) a waver stating I wouldn't leave any valuables in the car. I have recently moved to Oxfordshire and so needed the satnav to get to terminal 4, once there I placed the satnav out of sight in the central compartment as I didn't want to take it to India with me!!
A worrying thought is the the criminal only has to press home and he knows where I live AND has had access to my front door key for two weeks!! so now I also have the expense of changing the lock for my own peace of mind.
Surely drivefly's attitude is justifying the theft by a member of their staff and as a money saving website the powers that be here should look at who they promote a little closer and maybe stop promoting them. (just a thought) :-(
As an anecdote to my troubles I dropped my wallet in the stairwell in my hotel in Bombay two days ago, containing 9000 rupees (£112) a small fortune in India!! A porter found it, found out which room I was staying in and returned to me not missing a single rupee. It seems those with the least are the most honest in life!!
I work hard and make sacrifices so that I can live the life I want to and I don't see why I should let lazy, dishonest, criminals get away with the theft of my property!!
When the house phone is charged up I am going to call the Met Police to report the theft and ask for advice in the meantime any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated :-(
