Front foglights in MOT

Wipers are not tested on vehicles with opening windscreens and vehicles with an alternative means of providing the driver with an adequate view (tanks spring to mind).
As most 151 jeeps have windscreens, are you sure it did not have a fold down windscreen and a tester who did know what he was doing?
I just researched the 151 jeep and I did find a few references to some without windscreens. I also found that the US Army have declared them to be unsafe for road use and as such have a mandatory destruction policy on all jeeps ending service, and this applies to all jeeps given in aid to other countries.
I'd be surprised if a car was allowed to have no windscreen.
You can get cars without windscreens. Things like some kit cars and track day specials that are road legal. I've seen things like Caterham 7's without screens for example. Or how about the new KTM X-Bow?
Your right about the folding windscreens though. I have an old Land Rover with a folding screen so they don't have to test the wipers. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
If you add or remove seats you need to inform the DVLA and your insurance though
Thanks for the reminder, although I hope insurance would still cover me if I removed them temporarily, I had them out last week to get a king size mattress in. They're back in now, I suppose I should check with the insurance co. BBThis is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
The x-bow has a screen, it's a small one along the top of of the dash area. All cars submitted for SVA test must have a screen either openable or fixed, and the screen does not require washer wipers if the top edge of the screen is below the horizontal plane (as defined).
The caterhams you saw will either have been in a show or had small screens, or were not road legal.0
