Another lurker!
It's just me and my 4 cats!
I am determined not to get myself back into debt. I brought a house in April this year and I have found/am finding out that it requires more work than I initially thought so I have had to priotise the work that must be done between now and end of Oct. I have done the kitchen (was just going to paint the cabinents, replace work top & sink and flooring but the units inside had blown and the previous owners were not clean to say the least!). 3 weeks out I found out that the fire in lounge didn't work and beyond economic repair! And it has a back boiler too (double whammy) so I have to replace the boiler as well, but at least a new boiler will be more economical.
I was hoping to pay off my car loan but new kitchen/boiler have put paid to that so I am currently saving into an ISA to get it paid off. Then I hope to start chipping away at the capital on the small interest only part of my mortgage.
Loving the old style board. Been very inspired by the flylady thread, it's helped me get organised (well attempt to!)
Seem to have written an essay, so apologies!0 -

Hi
I am Marie and live in Argyll with my partner of 20+ years and my two sons aged 5 and 10.
I am self employed selling baby clothes on mainly eBay and a website.
Being self employed can be a bit up and down money wise, you can have a few great weeks then a few very quiet weeks so can never really budget properly as there is no guarenteed amount coming in every month, luckily my partner works full time and also two nights in another part time job so his wage covers the main bills etc.
I have lurked here for years but only started posting recently and have found everyone very helpfull and friendly:A.
I am doing the grocery challenge and starting to try and meal plan and batch cook, something I always used to do but got out of the habit and got lazy:mad:.
Thats all going to change from now!!!:j1 Sealed Pot Challenge # 1480

Hi there:wave:
I used to use the forum a while back but drifted away! I'm back now though.
I live with my partner, dog, cat, rabbit & gerbil in West Cornwall. Things are a little sticky as my partner was made redundant last autumn. He's set up his own business rather than sitting around getting depressed about no work, which is great from a mental health point of view, but has been difficult financially.
I'm on a really good salary for this part of the country, but even so it's been tricky with only my income for both of us. His business is starting to pick up now as people get to know he's there, but it's still early days and we're not at the point where we can rely on his money coming in yet. We don't have credit cards or loans, although I have a massive overdraft and owe my Mum some money.
We make most of our own stuff, certainly don't live a high life of dining out, buying clothes or anything else like that - but it gets a little limiting sometimes. We'd love a weekend away somewhere for a break but just can't commit to that this year.
I cook just about everything from scratch, make a lot of our own wine, grow veg and would love chickens but can't where we live. I took up knitting earlier this year as well - I'm not very proficient yet but I'm persevering!
Overall I guess we're really lucky - but we've got some big bills coming next month (heating oil for one) and I have no idea how we'll cover them.
Looking forward to sharing ideas with you all.0 -
Hi
been on here a few months now and have posted few thing but not much. Live with my partner and our 4 cats who have all found their way to us after life on the streets. Think the other cats paint arrows on the streets so they all find us! We both work full time and long hours and neither of us have had a raise for 4 years.Prices and bills go up and up but salaries stay the same. OH has some debt he will be paying off for some time which he brought from previous relationship. But...............we are very happy and what we lack in time and money we make up for in every other aspect of our lives.Old stlye has taught me fantastic things and I feel like I'm part of a brilliant club every time I log on. thanks0 -
Welcome guys! Good to have you on board0

Hi, yet another long term lurker who,s braved it.
I have been a single mum of 3 kids for many years, but have had a lovely boyfriend for the last 3 years, who I am considering taking on full-time as he,s nearly fully house-trained......
I work F/T and appear to have Champagne tastes on a Beer budget, something that needs to change pretty smartish...
The kids are 17,15 and 13 (HELP!!!!) and float between being great and horendous, but I love ,em anyway.
Big thanks to everyone who posts on here, I cannot beleive the tips, tricks and help that is available, you genuinely appear to be a great bunch.

Hi! Yet another lurker being lured out in to the open!!
I'm a full time mum to my 2 gorgeous girlies (ages 3 and 5), and have been married to my fantastic hubby for 10 years now (I was a child bride :rotfl:)
DH is self emp which as, many others have said, is a struggle financially but has other benefits (he's home most days working so we see him for lunch and he's 'home' by 5!!).
I've joined in with the Grocery Challenge 'unofficially' this month, and am really pleased with how the first week has gone, keeping my fingers crossed for the rest of the month now!!
Looking forward to joining in properly now!!
