  • This MSE apprentice would like to thank all the Grandmasters on the Tesco Misprices Thread for providing me with the skills to acquire a BT Verve 500 absolutely gratis.

Full price £69.95, SEL £34.97. Offer expired 24/12 - paid full price at the till so with DTD I got it for nothing after only a minor squabble at CS.

Thanks guys...my old cordless phone has been on the blink for ages.

    xx

Just came back from Mr T's in Abingdon (Oxfordshire) and while scouting round for the Senseo, I noticed that some of the SELs in the electrical dept were out of date. Most of the goods must have had offers extended because they scanned correctly, but the Philips hand blender SEL said £29.xx reduced to £19.xx but scanned at £29.xx. I would have bought but we really didn't need one even for a tenner.

There was also a smoothie maker OH spotted (sorry no details) which said £24.XX reduced from £34.xx but scanned at the higher price.

As I didn't buy, SELs still intact.

I'm curious as to how you know what they scan at if you didn't buy any of the items - is there some sort of customer operated scanning device somewhere?

None of the scanners work in any of the stores in my area - haven't for a while now - seems they are not bothered to 'repair' them, or maybe they have just been disconnected?

Thanks, I went to Abingdon today- no blenders left (although out of date SEL still in place). Smootie maker still there with incorrect SEL.
I got my first DTD (yeah!)- a Digilogic DVD player, out of date SEL said £19.97, scanned for 24.97, so £10 DTD back without a quibble.
Also, hair straighteners BaByliss Pro 230 Elegance Straightener showing out of date SEL for £48.xx, but should be ~£75, so good DTD potential. I did not buy it, so still there if someone wants to go and grabbit!

    Happy New Year to all

Please be discreet while using these scanners...........its not unknown to be refused RnR(i was) or DtD because u were seen by a staff member, checking the price before going to the tills.....

It was once even thought at the height of RnR that they had a camera focussed on the scanner to catch people trying this.............this was maybe just a rumour at the height of paranoia.........but beware.........

  • Be aware as I now am Lexmark X4650 printer expired 24/12/08 SEL 1/2 price at £64. It is still scanning through at the offer price.

I annoyed the CS at self scan when I had 2 in my trolley and a pint of milk and wanted them voiding off my bill.

The offer must have been extended but SEL not replaced.

All printers at Worcester ST Peters have no SELs apart from this one.
    Please don't critasize my spelling
  • As above - same here! I noticed the Lexmark £64 printer was SEL exp 28/12 but still scanned at offer price today! I wouldn't get as far as paying for it if I wasn't 100% sure that it would scan incorrectly though as surely this will just draw attention to yourself if you then have to get them voided? I try the self scan posts if they're working but best not to look to obvious doing this!!
