My 75 year old mother and bought one of these Morphy Richards Steam Irons for £75 today and was charged £150. When she approached Customer service she was told the SEL was OOD and all they could do was to give her it for £75 , which she refused. When asked about the DTD policy she was told it didn't apply to OOD labels , so not knowing what to do or her rights she left without the Iron. Can anyone tell me if it is still possible to contact head office about this as basically they have told her lies to get out of it.
Any advice welcome. Who to contact etc.

My own experiences are that you need to win OOD's in store and that HO *usually* back up the store if you go that route, but like everything Tesco, others will undoubtably have different experences. However, for future reference and for everyone else, if you are going to argue the case with HO, don't give the item back and don't accept even a partial refund - HO will consider that you have resolved the issue in both cases.

You could still try giving them a call though, you never know!

Good advice about not giving item back but regarding the partial refund I have taken in the passed and contacted HO and spoke to a nice lady who dealt with my case. The result being refund to cover DTD and advice to the Manager to train his staff over this issue.

sorry i dont have the number as i always email them, get it in writing that way. not all is lost.i once complained about rude staff and was send a card with quite a lot of money on it by way of a sorry. just mention how they seem to have taken advantage of a lady in older years blah blah and remind them of their policy (dtd) and staff require retraining......... yes its a shame she did not keep the iron but most people i know would have done the same thing. can you not go back just incase they missed a label? here is the email if you want that customer.service@tesco.co.uk the disadvantage with this is that they take a few days to reply but it gives you a chance to get it all down in writing and get a response. if you are not happy with their reply you can always phone up after to disagree. best of luck
A happy wife, and mum to 2 lovely little boys :j

Tesco Nectarines x 4 SEL IN DATE states £1 special offer went through at £1.68 ish. Did not get this myself but saw customer in front taking back to customer service for overcharge and was given DTD without asking.

I know too late but if this happens to anyone in the future I would have no problem asking the staff member to phone customer services at head office for clarification and if they refuse I would ask to use phone to do so. I have done this and it was satisfying to watch the managers face change when told a DTD should be given;)

Good price but my point was the action I recommended may have resulted in a DTD of £150 therefore free iron.;)
