On Monday in the Gloucester Poundland I bought the "Gavin and Stacey" hardback book which is selling on Amazon for £9.27. It was to put away for Xmas but DD has already run off with it!0

I saw that last night, I'm sure there was a Pounland in that location last year around Christmas time and then it closed down. Dont have to trek to Bedminster now, thank goodness!“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -

Correct as I got caught out back in March of this year. As it was still showing on the website. And I tried to visit it
But then I am happy now I have one only a few miles away now. Could really do a 99p shop though
Any how my local had "long way down" in hard back.

Hula Hoops tubs (christmas hoops & stars) spotted yesterday. These were about £2.60 in Tesco when I bought some 2 weeks ago
They last well beyond their use by date - bought some after Christmas last year for about 20p, only just found them last month, and they tasted perfectly alright, went down surprisingly well (and quickly!!)What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

Bought this hardback BBC book about Top of the Pops today. (Stretford)
It's an ideal gift and £8.44 cheapest price on Amazon. (Still loads of Gavin and Stacey and Hannibal Rising books in store there too)Aims for 2014
Drink a glass of water a day, Empty handbag at least once a week, Continue "not putting things off" and tackle things head on, Treasure people around me, Stay healthy and well away from hospitals, Continue to declutter/decorate house slowly and not get stressed because I can't do everything at once.0 -
In the Worcester store today:
Frank Sinatra - The Christmas Collection CD. Very nice indeed! On Amazon for up to £7.77. They had several other nice Christmas CDs too, including carols.
A range of 'Adorable Festive Figures', nice and bright and designed to stand up. I got a somewhat skinny looking looking guy with a red outfit, stripey socks, red hat and white beard. By the time I've replaced the bobble from his hat he'll hopefully pass as a Christmas elf (for the Christmas Moneysaving Elf thread).
'Quickachips' baking mesh basket for quicker oven chips ('does what it says on the tin' I hope!), as seen on Dragons' Den update series this summer.
Can anyone comment on the Poundland range of tools? My nephew wants tools for Christmas and if they're any good I could get him lots, rather than just one better make.0 -
Also saw some Charles Worthington Takeaways mini hair styling products, as stocked by Boots @ £1.75ish.0

basic things that dont get heavy use would be fine - however, things that you need to put your weight behind dont last long
but then again paying a £1 for a tool that lasts one job, is better than paying £5 for a basic tool from a DIY store, that only lasts one job too iyswim
cheap tools, are cheap tools. unless you are prepared to pay the prices, a professional would for the tools he relys on, then anything you buy is going to seem crappy by comparrison
it all depends on what you nephew wants from the tools. A set that will get him by in his first ventures into the world of DIY? or something that will outlast him? - i think for most people its best to go with the first option, until they know if DIY is their forte
