Ah, but eventually someone always needs or wants what's hidden away in my cupboards.Usually my son who is always amazed that, for example, anyone would have a "spare" sieve lying around
  • I often have so much restraint, that I frequently think - do I really need this, and I think of my mountainous stash at home, and think no! Then when I get home, I discover that it really was expensive normally or that I need something sooner and have to end up paying full price elsewhere when I go back and find they no longer have the item in Poundland - all because I wouldn't part with £1. I could say it's the Scottish genes: tight-fitting and all that.

The Da Vinci Code game was an exception because it looked so much value for £1, and was a couldn't refuse such a great bargain.

  • I know it sounds mad with the weather we've been having lately but I got some thermal socks today (3 pairs in a pack) , if you buy them from Millets etc they are £10 a pair, even in TK Maxx the best price I've ever seen them is 2 pairs for £5. I was overjoyed to find these as my best friend suffers chronically with the cold, even in "mild" weather so she'll get tons of use out of them.

The fact that it needs a DVD to explain the instructions says it all.......

Your post inspired me to look at my DVD, but since it must be at the very back of the cabinet, then I'll leave it until later before I look it out. Well, that's my excuse.

I needed some kebab skewers for the bbq. In Poundland they had a 'contraption' for want of a better word, comprising 6 metal skewers (looks like a wide, six pronged fork,) with a wooden handle - just what I wanted. We are using them tonight, so will report efficiency tomorrow.

Much better value than the 2 pack metal kebab cases they had in Tesco for £3. Personally, I think these were far too big, but they will do nicely for the salmon fillets currently 1/2 price in Tesco, and cut to size by me.
