Send your letter by record delivery and keep the receipt.

My experience is that all companies "lose" letters when they are complaint letters. If you send the letter by recorded delivery even if they claim they have lost it, or even it if goes unsigned no judge will believe them.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)

No - send it to B&Q not the holding company. They have no obligation (and no doubt will have no desire) to get involved with the dealings of one of their subsidiaries.

Oh, and if you threaten Kingfisher with small claims court proceedings, they will laugh at you and refer to something called privity of contract.

For what, you don't even know what the actual complaint is!

Hardly specific enough to give advice to sue a company - actually the wrong company.

 Can you or your fellow complaints guru uktim29 correct me if I'm mistaken but did I say "sue them" or "threaten them with Small Claims Court" ?

I think there is a teeny weeny bit of difference
