Just a word of warning, if you do decide to give a little bit of food early, please read up on the ingredients.
I used hipp for my child and he was fed food at about 5/6 weeks old. He had some stomach problems and screamed all the time his stomach sounded like a water ballon filled with swishing water. , went to specialist who said nothing they could do about it and would usually cease when older and on solids. , so i put him on a little baby food and it stopped. Jees di i get hell from doctors and H>V.
Anyway back to the advice, while i was researching about baby food, it was brought to my attention that some baby foods say "no added salt".
This does not mean no salt , but that they have not actively added it. Dried milk powder which is added to baby foods a lot has 3 times the amount of salt as normal milk.
At the end of the day people will have different view points on this, but you have to choose, just make sure you know what is in the food you aregiving .0 -
The worst advise we received was from a health visitor who had no children.
Appears that the info she was giving us was from a book, which hands on experience tells you what is best.
People have been around for years, so surely we must be doing something right....0 -
I'd say if baby is hungry, just keep offering more milk - it has way more calories than baby rice. No amount of milk can harm them, wheras the rice is rather debatable at this age.
If baby is crying a lot, it might be worth trying some Colief or Infacol too? Sometimes the bottle makes them windy, but they want to suck for comfort from the wind pain, so have another bottle etc - you end up with a vicious cycle. It's worth a go anywayI like you. I shall kill you last.0 -
hi
my baby is 11 weeks old. she was doing great sleeping thorugh night etc and now she has started to wake for feeds again twice during the night. she is taking around 35oz of milk a day which to me seems like a lot.last time she was weighted she was 10pounds 12 oz that was 3 weeks ago. i kinow weaning isnt recommended until 4 months at least but was wondering if i shoudl start her on a bit of baby rice at night (my mums suggestion) i am a first time mum and not sure!
feel free to move this if in wrong place
thanks
I personally would try and hold out a ittle longer before you start weaning. 11 weeks still seems young. My 3 were introduced to baby rice from about 15/16 weeks and your daughters sounds a similar weight to them, my youngest is 18 months, so i dont think i am talking dark ages ! there is no way we could of waited until 6 months, so i followed what i did for my son, who is now a healthy 7 year old, guidelines for him were 4 months. my niece cut her first teeth at 14 weeks,so there could be a number of reasons why baby is waking.
bare with it if i were you, they are only little for a short time.0
