My three children were so hungry that even our then Gp admitted that i should start weaning them early. My DS(5) was the earliest to be weaned as he was only 6weeks old when he was started on baby rice.

I'm not saying anyone should wean this early and i only did it with the GPs advice and consent.
We used to feed our sons at around 11pm at night sometimes slightly later so that they had their last feed of the day as late as possible and then they slept through the night usually until around 7am.

As others have said have you gone up onto the second stage milk, or i do know that some milk companies do night time milk(not sure if this can be used at 11weeks old).

Someone I work with has a grandson (I think he's about 2 now) who was on baby rice in the bottle from afew weeks old (his parents wanting their sleep was obviously more important than his well-being) and when his grandmother brought him into work when he was about 10 weeks old I was shocked - I have never seen a more unhealthy looking baby in my life. I mean we all love a chubby baby, but this child was hideous and he had a look about him that said "please help me" - I felt really sad for him. He's still obese two years on.

It always puzzles me why people think it's so wonderful to have huge babies and love to tell you how much bigger they are for their age. "Oh my son is 2 and he's in size 13 shoes and age 8 clothes". Obviously some people are going to have larger/taller children, especially if they're tall themselves, but why is it something to boast about?

And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end

Oh you poor thing, I remember being scared of health visitors too but don't be they are human beings even if sometimes they appear to be a bit eek! They are there to help you and for you to enjoy this time with your bubs. But always remember that your instinct is very important too when it comes to bringing up the children.

Best of luck with it all and let us know how you go

All kids are different. My son was 9lb 6oz when he was born and within a month he was on hungry baby milk.
He would cry all the time and my wife and i were like zombies through lack of sleep. We spoke with the health visitor who advised us to put him on porridge before bed. Boy did this work (at 3 months) then at 4 months we introduced baby food, at 6 months proper food.
He is now almost 7 and he is a big healthy lad (one of biggest in his year) and there is not an ounce of fat on him.

I think the point im trying to make is that its not possible to regulate or advise universally on all children because they are all so very different. Use your maternal (or in my case paternal) instincts and do what you feel is right.

my lo was the same and i used to give her 3 tsps of baby after her last bottle at night and she was fine with that ,However i wouldnt give her anything else untill much older
also give the baby rice after the bottle because at this age the milk is more importnant and u dont want her leaving it cos shes full with rice
  • Never put the rice in the bottle it can cause problems. As for the baby who was obese that would have happened with or without the rice some parents have no idea how to look after a baby. Both my boys have never been overweight infact they often come in just under, they eat a health balanced diet and do plenty of sports.
Baby rice is the only food I would give a baby under 4 months.

Its always puzzled me why Mums who bottle feed are obsessed by how many ounces a baby drunk per bottle or during the day. Sometimes like ourselves I'm sure the only want a snack.

Breast feeding Mums never have a clue how many fluid ounces their baby is getting.
