Yuck! Yuck! Yuck! Yuck! There are maggots in my wheelie bin! _pale_

we missed the bin lorry on Wed as it arrived at 9am when it's usually 1pm, so it's not due picked up for another 2 weeks!

They are falling out round about it! I'm creeped out now and won't step out the back! Gross!!

Apparently this is the reason why weekly collections were introduced in the first place - to break the lifecycle of the fly. Progress eh?

well, Charlie is 7, so if she wants a toyboy!

I get the maggot problem usually once a summer. I use lots of boiling water and lots of bleach squirted around the edge of the bin. I agree though, they are vile.

Bleach does work (but be very generous!). Makes them wriggle a bit beforehand and there is a satisfying 'thud' sensation when they all fall off/into the bin!

How awful. I'd get out there sharpish with a kettle full of hot water, and douse 'em. I'd also get a flypaper in the bin - one of those things they stick to - because chances are they'll turn before your bin is collected. I always put my wheelie bin the night before.

Is that on tonight?:eek::eek: I never managed to watch it. I saw up to the bit where the boy walked into the kitchen and found all the drawers and cupboards open and that was it for me . I must be really pathetic :o. The Others was really scary too (but I did manage to finish watching it )

    9 pm ITV2

Never seen The Others. Never got to the end of Silence of the Lambs, either! Can't watch any of the Scary Movies cos I won't get most of the references!

Dinner's almost ready. I'm beginning to get stressed up again about a possible influx of emails just before 8pm. But, I'm resolved to stay calm enough to eat my roast duck.....

    I never knew that!

Once (quake in your boots flyladies) I had maggots in the kitchen bin!.. My guess is that the eggs were laid in the catfood which I threw in - but since I recycle so much I find I don't need to empty my kitchen bin so often - and it's a small one, I line it with a carrier bag! I had vaguely wondered what the smell was! Now I wash it out with boiling water every week, and am careful how I place rubbish - eg I use a breadbag for waste food.

Can't put it out the night before as it's taken via neighbours drive... and they manage to squeeze 3 cars on to it, blocking it off!

I've ant stopped them, I can't face going any closer than that! Plus the bin is overflowing so can't get the lid closed.
