I've taken to surrendering my fridge veg drawer and tipping the potatoes loose into that. They last twice as long that way. Takes up a lot of space though if you don't have a big fridge
Me too. In fact all my veg goes in the fridge.** Freebies and money saved with the help of you all? - Don't know ....lost count! **** Stay Safe **0 -

Any ideas on best way to store - I dont want to buy potatoe sacks as it will erase any economies I might have made by growing my own.
Thanks
Try your local chippy or market if you have one. Usually willgive you used paper potato sacks.Slimming World at target0 -

Hi all
Just managed to source 25kg of potatoes for £6! Didn't realise they could be so cheap!
Now the question is how do I store such a large amount of potatoes without them sprouting?
I was thinking of just keeping them in the garage, but is there anything else I need to do?
TIA

Hi Fiz,
This thread should help:
Help! How do I store potatoes?
And this thread might give you some ideas for using them:
How many things can you do with potatoes.
I'll add your thread to the first link later to keep the replies together.

So glad to have read that others store their potatoes in the fridge. I thought I must be going against some potato rule in doing so. I'm going to try putting them in a hessian sack in the drawer to help with the light. Now I just need to organise all my other vegetables!0

I have a potato bag from Lakeland that I use. I forgot about some for a while and rather than going sweaty and rotten, they'd sprouted (and by sprouted I really mean it!!!)0

Can I store raw potatoes in the fridge? If I store them in my pantry they seem to go off quite quickly. I thought this might be because I have a small kitchen which is like a sauna when the oven is on and it heats the pantry too. I don't really have anywhere else that's cool, except the garden.
Thanks for any help0 -
