pigs ARE worth it campaign stuff

PLEASE only apply for these if you will display them. the pig industry loses £26 on every pig sold and £6 per SECOND!! Lots of farmers are getting out of pig farming for good. The reason is cheap pork from abroad (which hasnt been reared to our high standard) and the higher cost of feed (made from corn).
The supermarkets have raised their prices, but its not getting back to the farmers, and also suppliers of disinfectant etc have raised their prices exponentially (for no reason) and they are all hammering nails into the coffin of the British Pig Industry.
So if you can afford it, please pay that extra few pence for the BRITISH pork on the supermarket shelf or even better, buy from a local butcher if you can.
before you apply for the campaigning freebies (which i hope you WILL display, as I am going to), I urge you to sign your support to the poor pig farmers of Britain, before they go extinct!!

Thats a very serious and baseless accusation that just because meat comes from abroad that it has been reared under poor conditions. British bloodstock were until recently lightyears behing our continental cousins in terms of hygiene and welfare. The reason is cheap pork from abroad (which hasnt been reared to our high standard) and the higher cost of feed (made from corn).

Disinfect makers have been hit extremely hard by the soaring cost of oil as their manufacturing processes are so utterly intertwined with the cost of oil/energy it was inevitable- hardly for 'no reason' as you slanderously claim.
The higher costs of feed is also a knock on of rising food/fuel costs so, just like the rest of us, pig farmers are going through a tough time. Not sure what the point of the post is?0 -
its to get people to apply for the pig freebies and display them.
and my hubby has spent his adult life working for the british pig industry, he knows it inside out. our european counterparts have "lime beds" that they put diseased animals into, instead of informing the authorities, and they sell the other animals from the same farms for meat!! Hubby has been abroad and seen it, so you cannot tell me that their hygene is above ours! This wouldnt be allowed in Britain, the animals would all have to be culled.
Yes we are all finding it hard, the rising cost of oil, petrol etc, but I hardly think that justifies DOUBLING the price of a barrel of disinfectant (from around £30 to £60). Again, my hubby runs a unit for a multinational pig breeding unit, so I know this first hand. ok I could have worded it better, but a lot of people think farmers are raking it in, when in fact that extra few pence you pay on the pork doesnt make it as far as the farmers! I was merely trying to educate.
I didnt come on here to start a fight, simply to get people to support the british farmers by getting these freebies and displaying them, as I will be doing. If you have a problem with that, then it is YOUR problem, not mineIf you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all

our european counterparts have [bla bla bla bla bla], so you cannot tell me that their hygene is above ours! This wouldnt be allowed in Britain, the animals would all have to be culled.I didnt come on here to start a fight,
 well maybe then you should avoid making such generalist statement...
I come from one of 'your european conterparts' - and I'm very happy with the pork - and meat - that I get there. I even think it's better (yep really)
And noone there would have the remote thought of buying brittish meat.
so maybe you should mention exactly which country(ies) your husband's been (did he visit one place in the country, 10?).
I'm sure there are crapy things happening...... everywhere, including UK
this said I do agree it's tough life for some farmers.0 -
i totally agree that we should support british farmers and industry. i prefer to pay more for products when i know the money goes either locally or to british farmers.
i notice mr m's has mainly british meat but that places like mr t's and mr a's i have to look a bit harder at the labels.
personally if i could afford it i would only buy from my local farm who slaughter the animals only 20 miles away - their meat is THE BEST!!!!!! :Tit's nice to be important but more important to be nice!! :kisses3:0 -
pigs are only worth it when theyre still alive! go veggie!)

Please remind me when Britiain was great? When Churchill was striding the political arena? The post war years when we were bankrupt? The pre-war years when people were lucky to live past 40? When we had our 'Great Empire maybe? Its ashame Britain insn't so great anymore, I will apply
I think there are some disturbing views behind your post0 -
Why do you keep trying to pick fights with people? Nobody is forcing you to apply for the freebies. If you don't agree, just ignore it and move on to something else. Some people would obviously like to support british produce even if you don't.What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0
