Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Has anybody used the vouchers for delivery? Just wondering if they accept them OK or not.
  • Went armed with our vouchers last night. Place was packed with a long queue. Food took nearly an hour but was lovely. Young waitress could not apologise enough. She told us when we were paying the bill that Pizza Hut are not making any money now all the vouchers are about and they have had the staff cut by 2 waitresses - hence the delay. My advice is to avoid busy times!

On all the staff training stuff for Pizza Hut re Tesco Deals, it says buffet is not included.

Although they should perhaps put this on the T&C's on the tesco site.

    Hi laalaa
Thanks for your reply.I have also received a reply from HQ.Here's the reply......

Thank you for your internet feedback regarding our Crawley Leisure Park restaurant.

On behalf of Pizza Hut(UK) Ltd, may I apologise for the problems you have highlighted.

Please accept our apologise for any confusion caused, the vouchers can be used at lunch time but not for the buffet. We will ensure that our team members communicate this more effectively in future.

I am sorry that we do not appear to have lived up to your expectations. Please accept our apologies for it having been necessary to contact us regarding this matter.

Assuring you of our best attention at all times.

Actually the response wasn't exactly as I asked HQ.
It's confusing alright when the Tesco offer doesn't say 'buffet' and the 50% off deal
from Pizza Hut does say it cannot be used for buffet.
I have resent a reply asking for them to honour the voucher and refund my 10 pounds I paid the restaurant.
  • Is it just me or is Pizza Hut a bit.... well... rubbish? I was really looking forward to this deal and converted enough vouchers for us to have 3 meals during the school hols and I must say that none of them were particularly nice - although the kids thought the ice cream factory was the bees knees lol

I've had better Pizza out of the freezers at Tesco, their 2 for £2 pizzas are much more tasty than pizza Hut's. The garlic bread is just bog standard frozen stuff and the pasta is soft and mushy like it's been cooked previously and bunged into hot water to heat it up - and with the speed that it arrives they must be doing just that.

I do feel a bit like we've wasted some of our deals vouchers, we won't be converting aymore for Pizza Hut that's for sure!

Yep, but as with using them on collection or in a dine-in restaurant the minimum spend has to be £20, not used in conjunction with deals or restricted items.

Some huts might be a bit lax about how they are accepting them; my advice would be to see what you can get away with - but in my store we will not accept them for drinks etc.

  • Just had a lovely day out in Hunstanton and decided to stop off at Pizza Hut, Kings Lynn on way home.

We were shown to our seats, drinks and food were ordered, starters arrived but no drinks! Eventually got everything sorted and enjoyed our meal.....

Asked for the bill at the end, it came to just over £43. I had £40 worth of Pizza Hut Deals tokens, and knew we had to pay for drinks so I handed them all over plus a tenner......

Waitress piped up that our bill would have to be split to remove our drinks......and the kids meals!!!

Apparantly the food off the kids menu is classed as a meal deal   So our 'cheap' meal still ended up costing us £15, plus £30 Deals Tokens!

And, we've now got a fairly useless £10 Pizza Hut token left so that will be going back to Tesco!

I knew we couldn't order one of their meal deals and pay using Deals tokens and I knew we probably had to pay for drinks separately but the kids meals???

So be warned if you're planning to go and pay using Tesco vouchers....... don't let the kids anywhere near the kids menu!!!
  • Anyone know if you can use the 50% off voucher and pay the balance with deals vouchers? thanks

Nope, you can't - the reason being, that voucher counts as a deal. Pizza Hut only get 50% of the value of the token back from Tesco, so if you use a 50% off voucher on, say, £40 worth of food, and paid the balance (£20) in Tesco deals vouchers, then Pizza Hut only gets half of that money (£10) back from Tesco. As a result, we would be selling £40 worth of product for £10, which would mean that we would be selling it for 75% off its value which would mean we were operating at a loss. Our COS (cost of sales, the price we have to pay on our food before we sell it to you) is 23.8%, so if we were selling our products for 25% of their value then the profit margin, 1.2%, gets swallowed up the the COL (cost of labour), and we operate at a loss.

I made a delivery the other day, the woman had ordered a meal deal and then tried to pay with Tesco Deal vouchers, and she wasn't happy when I told her that was not allowed despite it being clearly written on the T&C. She then had to spend ages trying to find the cash to pay me.

I would suggest, if you are planning to use these vouchers, to tell your server straight away that you have them - this will avoid any confusion arising (as long as the server is trained on how to accept them!) and you will know exactly what you can and can't use them for. I took an order for a lady a couple of days ago; quite a big order and I gave her a few meal deals etc. and at the end of the conversation she informed me that she would pay on delivery with Tesco vouchers. The result? I had to reenter the entire order again as none of it was valid if she wanted to pay with the vouchers. If you tell the server at the beginning that you have them you will save time and embarrassment - let me tell you, as an employee it is not fun to have a customer have a go at you, particularly when it is not your fault as they didn't bother telling you they had the darn things!

You might be able to tell from my tone that I don't like these vouchers :) Well, neither does Pizza Hut. They expire on the 31ST OCTOBER, so if you have any, use them before then because the impression I've been getting from my fellow managers is that Pizza Hut is not going to start accepting them again. This was a trial period and the trial has gone badly for us - so if you have any, use 'em or lose 'em!
