  • Ah the child thinking he is the boss thing I've had some of that in the past! Who do these littlies think they are  ;) Have you tried the supernanny thing of literally not speaking to him once he has been told it is sleep time and getting his hand and leading him back to bed. Once you speak or tell him again then he has control again so you need to just gently get his hand and take/drag (:p ) him back to bed. This could literally take hours and I know its easy to snap and tell him off but if he has had clear instructions on what will happen once you have told him its sleep and time and he gets up then he will get the picture eventually. You might be bald by then but he will get it :o:D

I would tell him today what is going to happen if he gets up after he has been told its sleep time then you will just keep putting him back in bed and will not be talking to him at all because it is sleep time and it is not up for discussion at all.

Hi KM, that is what I'm trying with him, but the clever little monster has a cunning plan :o We live in an upstairs flat and he will deliberately stamp his feet on the floor as hard as he can as he knows I hate it cos the people downstairs get really @rsey :o Last night it did wok in the end but it took a couple of hours and i could have just sat and cried by the end :o The other problem is every time we seem to be getting somewhere it comes round to daddys weekend again and then it seems to go back to square one

  • I would tell him tonight that the people downstairs fhave gone away for a few days so bang away coz it won't bother anyone, hopefully that will make it boring for him.

Also could you postpone him going to his dads until he is sleeping again in a routine? You don't need to tell him that he's not going to his dads for that reason or it might seem a bit harsh.

The other trick would be to literally sit outside his room (with laptop of course) so that when he gets up there is not far for him to wander and he knows he won't get far.

Good luck with it the hard work now will be worth it in the long run. The parents who take the easy route now and end up letting them stay up for an easy life suffer for much longer than you will if you getting sorted now. I know its stressful though coz I've done it and while I am telling myself not to give in and end up shouting I am sure he must have been able to hear my heartbeat I was so stressed :o :rotfl:

There is no way on earth his dad would agree to him not going unfortunately :o I will sit outside his doorway tonight, I didn't start off doing that last night but by about 9:30 I did and thats probably when it started getting better, so yep tonight I will start off there ;):D Thankyou for your support :o:o

Aha! I've had this discussion once this morning - some stuff on the list takes ages, some takes no time at all - just the way of lists.

Seriously, sorry you're having such trouble with DS - it makes life very tough. I can only agree with what KP has said, that its worth it in the long run, and I admire you for sticking to your guns.

PS - I'm one eighth through the WR on partybets!

hey - if it's any consolation - my angel sleeper, who I have never had problems with, has become a nightmare over the last few months, playing for hours and not sleeping and then being exhausted- very frustrating! xx
