OH has been paid today, and so I have worked out the figures - we have a "salary shortfall" so far this month of £222. Thankfully this will be made up later in the month when he gets paid for his second job, but we cannot afford for the gap to widen so need to be very careful - we have sort of let things slip in September......must must must try harder in October.
Also in online banking news - £17.90 received from mystery shopping, which I can add to my £10 a day challenge. This has gone straight to HSBC but won't make a difference in the totals because of interest charged  - oh well, it is still heading in the right direction!
Hope you all have a good day xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

Aww! Happy Birthday to the very youngest mini-hypno.OH has been paid today, and so I have worked out the figures - we have a "salary shortfall" so far this month of £222. Thankfully this will be made up later in the month when he gets paid for his second job, but we cannot afford for the gap to widen so need to be very careful - we have sort of let things slip in September......must must must try harder in October.
Its a timing issue right now, but its never nice to see that shortfall. But remember not so long ago, when things like mystery shopping had to be done just to make the minimums? You're doing brilliantly. Also in online banking news - £17.90 received from mystery shopping, which I can add to my £10 a day challenge. This has gone straight to HSBC but won't make a difference in the totals because of interest charged  - oh well, it is still heading in the right direction!
I don't get that, hypno, sorryyou're getting socked with more interest?
Hope you all have a good day x
You too! And everyone else! I'm off in London today, so won't be on here for long.
Surfbabe - good aching from the classes, but awful for the root canal - take care of yourself.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Surfbabe, I hope you are not suffering too much this afternoon.
KC - the interest is what we get charged every month because the HSBC account is a credit card - so of course at some point in the month the balance goes up a bit when they add on the interest. So, we had approx £33 added in interest this month, so the payments we make immediately after that have to clear off that interest before we can continue reducing the capital.
I am recognising the feeling (again) that I am teetering on the edge/about to hit a brick wall/something similar........and I need to be careful. Whether it is because I have hit that £20k challenge target, or that we have paid off a lot just recently, combined with the madness that has been work recently (which I love, don't get me wrong) or what, I don't know. I am still very down about the fact my house, despite the million "I will start flylady today" efforts, is a mess and I am tempted to get a skip and just chuck everything in it and start from scratch on the basis that I am sure I don't use/wear/need/want the majority of the stuff we have, and I don't have the time/energy/inclination to go through it all bit by bit.
I almost want someone just to say "I've got rid of it" - I mean, what is the worse that will happen? If I have got the essentials - passport, car and house documents, photos, kettle and a coffee mug, then everything else can be acquired if we really really need it.

I so know what you mean. I am battling with lack of motivation and who cares kind of attitude. Still not done the windows (have ironed though, where was your stuff?) and really can't be bothered. I am trying to concentrate on the positive: have made a lemon meringue pie (never made one before), took the dog for a walk and spotted the blackberries are ripe. When the tribe are home we will go and pick them. Hope you manage to get back on track.

Well I have what seems to be a very swollen face but I am assured is not and root canal is all done!!!! Just got two more appointments for the crown to go over the top !
Happy Birthday to Mini Hypno Male - have a fab day.
Take a step back Hypno and think of all that you have achieved - I can sympathise with the brick wall feeling but you will overcome that. Some people are just born to be untidy so as long as the house isn;t dirty don;t worry too much - things will happen when you are ready for them.
Well I am off to try and eat a bowl of soup and to hang another load of washing on line.
Have a good afternoon0 -
Hi Hypno,
Maybe a reprioritisation exercise is needed to show where you've come from and where you're going again.
I think it's that time of year where people are getting tired as it's dark now in the mornings... Well the streetlights are on at 6:30am! I'm shocked!
Try to make the brick wall something like a solid hurdle that's shin high!
Then sing along to Pink's new song as loud as you can... apart from the losing the husband bit... Debt Free since July 2011 and it feels good!
Now it's all about finding a deposit for a house!
How do you amass £70k in a year?! :eek:0 -
Sorry to hear you feel you're hitting a wall but if you have lots of stuff you don't need or want then it's all the more for carbooting! I've just joined the declutter thread on OS and hope to get clear this year...babysteps though...Mortgage OP 2025 £6200/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

I think I have realised why I feel like this today - I think that because it is DS's birthday, I am missing my Dad. One of *those* days..........
I am still all for the skip idea though. Can't be bothered to car boot - and besides when have I got the time - my weekends are taken up traipsing to ski slopes for the next few weeks, and with work, and extra workshops etc I think a car boot highly unlikely.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground.
