    Natweststaffmember,
Do you know if there is a delay in processing applications for the Student accounts?
I applied online and then took my documents in branch to have them authenticated and then sent through. I did this 3 weeks ago (the girl gave me a signed note saying she had done this) and have heard literally nothing back. I'm now at uni and obviously can't go back to that branch. What would you recommend I do?

    Thanks,
    Lee.

I would probably go into the local branch and simply open the account there UNLESS you are desparate for the free Webcam.

Hello there, I hope you are still around to answer questions?

I am a mature student, 22, and have applied for the Natwest Student Account, and have taken the option to apply a year early/have application deferred, as my course starts in 2009.

Unfortunately I am seperated from a civil partnership that went very wrong and as a result have ended up £12000 in debt. I have 5 defaults registered on my credit file.

I am pretty sure this is going to count against me, but if I do manage to have a student account opened, is there ANY chance I will be able to apply for even the smallest overdraft?

I ask this because I have actually been offered another account with a different bank, but would really prefer Natwest!

    Regards.

I have a bad credit rating from a few years ago - I got the full overdraft with no problems!
If you know you want to go with this bank then just try registering - it's not like you are signing up to five banks all in one go so it shouldn't cause any issues (ie: footprints and all that).

    good luck

I am always around, usually on the bank reclaims part of the forum or TSR. It might be that the account that the bank can offer you may be a basic one but as wiggynuts has said they may be able to offer you the student account.

  • Hi,
If I go into the bank and add a term time address to my account, will statements then be sent there?
Ideally, I would like them to be sent to my home address, and only want to add my term time address to the account in order to have online orders delivered to a cardholders address.

    Thanks
  • apologies for late late response. The likelyhood is that the branch will have the uni address as a correspondence address which will mean that statements will go there. The branch local to you will be able to clarify this. If you do use NatWest Online banking, then you can stop paper statements being sent(if you need to restart them then you will need to go into the branch to do this).

I think i've (finally!) got my card sorted. One other question.. consideringI went in branch to send off my Uni letter etc (even though I applied for the account online) will I still be eligible for the webcam?

If you had documents certified as true copies and that you didn't sit down and complete a NEW application then you should be still eligble for the railcard

  • I have posted this on TSR but I will do this here. There are a lot of plastic cards awaiting collection in the branch network. If you have not received your card for your account and it has been at least 10 full days then you need to be asking the branch where the account was opened as to whether they have the card IN the branch.
There are a lot of cards in need of a good home(sound like Battersea Dogs home advert!)

Yeah, I got my card that was sitting in branch cancelled and a new one issued to my home address.
I didn't start a new application so I should get the webcam. :-) Is the info about this in the welcome pack or does this come later?
