how long does it take for them to contact you?
I applied online and got the paperwork.. I went into a branch to show ID etc and they stamped everything and put it into an envelope - doesn't it get sent to H/O as such?
anyone know how long it takes to hear if they have approved your account etc?Light bulb moment April 07: [strike]£3,655 [/strike] Oct 07: [strike]£2,220[/strike] now 0 - 3 years of Uni debt to be added at a later datenow at Uni as a Mature student -update: now has a First Class BA!0 -
Hi,
I tried applying for a student account online (to get the free webcam) 3 weeks ago with no reply. I applied again a week ago but stil no reply. I have had an account with them for 3 years now (so since i was 15). Should I go in my local branch to find out? Will this affect me getting the free webcam? As it is for my Mom so we can talk to each other while I am away.
Also, can I have the cards and cheque book sent to a different branch located at the Uni of Reading? As i currently live in Stoke-on-Trent.
Thank you!0 -

Card should be 5 working days(1 week) and the cheque book is slightly later. Once the card is activated then the PIN number is produced which is another 5 working days.0 -
My son's card arrived a week after he openned the account in a branch. The online info came 5 days and the action code for it after 8 days. Still waiting for the PIN number (due any day in the post) and the welcome pack with railcard and cheque book (branch meant to phone when it arrives). Been 2 weeks tomorrow.0

Welcome pack arrived in the post today.
Very impressed that I could send off for his railcard instantly by text message.
Just the cheque book and PIN number missing now.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Hi,
If I want to open the account in branch(having applied online), do I have to make an appointment, or do you just go to the normal tills?
Also, can you change the home branch at this stage, because I will now want the cards etc sent to a branch near my uni?
Thanks0 -

don't go to the tills - go to the reception or info part and they will help you.
tills are just for depositing/withdrawing etc - you don't have the account details either.
I took my ID and forms into a branch on the 30th Aug - still heard nothing!
how much longer?
UPDATE: just got home and my Natwest account is open... got the account number and sort code... I'll be able to tell SLC the new details so the loan can get paid in! coooooool (oh, and got full overdraft too... oh dear, going to try and forget about that bit of news!!!!!!! ;-)Light bulb moment April 07: [strike]£3,655 [/strike] Oct 07: [strike]£2,220[/strike] now 0 - 3 years of Uni debt to be added at a later datenow at Uni as a Mature student -update: now has a First Class BA!0 -
natweststaffmember,
My son has just started studying for a foundation degree at Bournemouth College (two years full time) with an option 3rd year accredited by Bournemouth University to make it a BA.
As a long-time NatWest customer, I suggested he open a student account at the branch in Bath where we live. This he did but heard nothing and eventually had to leave for Bournemouth.
He went to the Bournemouth branch where he was told he was not eligible for a Student Account because he was doing a foundation degree and that was why he not heard anything from the Bath branch. What a c!*p way of doing business!
Why is it that a foundation degree does not qualify him for a student account? It is not a foundation year. If he does the optional 3rd year to get a BA he will have done 3 years just like everyone else. He has a grant and a student loan just like everyone else and he is living away from home in a Bournemouth University hall of residence. So, what is it that doesn't qualify him for a student acount? :mad:0 -

perhaps they have confused the two different foundations... try ringing up the help line and ask to talk to a manager! (some staff might not realise the difference either.. I didn't know they were different until I actually started looking at courses I wanted to do!)Light bulb moment April 07: [strike]£3,655 [/strike] Oct 07: [strike]£2,220[/strike] now 0 - 3 years of Uni debt to be added at a later datenow at Uni as a Mature student -update: now has a First Class BA!0
