I know this is with dogs....
When we got our last puppy we ended up coming home with brother and sister. And its the best thing we ever did. The love they share is unbelievable, they are joined at the hip.
The only downfall is the 'no megan dont pee on the rug! Wait wheres ozzy? Oh god no, dont eat that!!!'
But you dont tend to get this with kittens as much (well we didnt with ours), but you will find your chasing them around more (as you cant keep an eye on both).
But would DEFINATELY get 2 if you can afford it, and have the time for themGreen and White Barmy Army!0 -
oops! lost my first reply try again!
thanks for the reply.
Am definately leaning towards the 2 kitten side already but just needed some independent opinions as most of my friends are dog owners and only work part time or from home.

I vote two! Not only do you get double the fun but having two is also less work. I adopted two brothers and much as I adore them I honestly don't think I could have devoted the amount of time they spend playing with each other to a kitten if it were on it's own. There is also nothing cuter than watching them play fight and then snuggling up to sleep together
My two have the best of everything (high quality dry and wet food) and the monthly cost including food, litter, putting aside for yearly booster vaccinations, frontline/drontal and the best insurance going is around £70.
Obviously you have to take into account the initial costs like neutering/spaying when old enough, microchipping, carry baskets, toys/climbing frames etc but once these are out of the way £70 will be ample for two. I'm sure someone will be along soon enough telling us how their cat costs them £2.50 a month, this is a moneysaving site after all!0 -
i think you should definetely get two, they can keep each other entertained and snuggled when you go out ect. i just got one and regret not getting her a little friend. as soon as i am able to move somewhere with a garden i think ill introduce another.0

Hi
People think of cats as quite selfish creatures but we lost Poppy, sister to George (that we've still got) and he gets really grumpy if we all go out and leave him. He even cuddles up to our dog (a slobbery boxer) at times. So I think animals do need a bit of company.
However you do need to bear in mind that 2 cats mean 2 lots of vets bills (even though most vets give discount if you do more than 1 animal at a time) but I must agree that 2 kittens will give hours of pleasure just watching them and a kitten cuddled up on your lap can really make you feel better when you are feeling down.
Have fun

I think you should get two. I have a 1 1/2 year old cat and recently got two kittens that are brothers. (the older cat is their uncle) the kittens are always sleeping together, grooming each other and playing together. It has taken about 2 months for the older cat to get used to them around. He plays with them and grooms them every now and again. When the kittens go out into the garden the older cat follows them and looks after them. So cute.
I dont really think that you need cat sitters during the day. If we are at work or go out for the day we feed them meat before we go then leave them some biscuts and a bowl of water down.
We come back to find the house a tip with toys everywhere. They have a toy box in the corner of the living room and take out what they want lol.0 -
I got two kittens and even now as adult cats (5) they still groom each other from time to time and snuggle up together although go off and do their own thing seperately too as they are completely opposite characters....one is really laid back and the other is a live wire and hunter. It's going to get really interesting in a couple of weeks when I introduce a new kitten (next door's cat produced and I couldn't resist LOL)I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Another vote for two... I have a brother and sister that we got together for our children.... They are not all over each other but never far away from each other. When we have been away they are together and they always go to the vet together too.
Because of their self sufficiency 2 cats are not twice the work, honest!
Good luck with your decision!!:dance:Sometimes I sing and dance around the house in my underwear. Doesn't make me Madonna. Never will. :dance:0
