The choice is yours. One kitten will be fine on their own, they adapt very well being away from mum, brothers and sisters. But two is double fun and double trouble
We started with 2 and now have 10. But if you want my opinion, take the two, if anything they will keep you busy and fitPlease do not feed the Trolls!0 -
Get two - when they both climb your legs and hang on your hips, it'll look like a gun holster, and they'll have a better chance of bringing down your net curtains if they launch at them together!0

Am I the only person that got 2 cute little fluffy kittens then realised I'd adopted a re-incarnation of the Kray twins, exxcept more psychotic;) ...
...but ignoring that get 2, they'll both have completely different personalities and will be hours of fun0 -
Two is deffinately best!
I got my first kittens (brother and sister) in march. Like you i had a dilemma over how many to get but i am glad i went for two. I work a 9 til 5 and my partner works long hours so they are on their own most of the time and they are fine because they have each other for company.
If you are off work for a month or two, they will have pleanty of time to settle in and then you will be able to happily leave and you shouldnt need your parents popping in to see them during the day as long as you leave enough food down for them.
Be warned though, two kittens means 3 times as much trouble! They will chase each other around, climb and jump up everything and play fight alot. Its double the fun however you wont get so much damage with just one.0 -
Two is better, especially as you are getting kitties. They will have company when your not around and each other to play with. I have three cats nowWins: Holiday to Thailand May 2014

Thank you so much for all replies
Its two then, motion carried!
Just trying to sort out getting 2 immediately after our camping holiday (back 31.08.07) or as soon after my operation (04.09.07) as possible to maximise my time at home with them.
Can you believe having made this decision after 10+ years and thinking I had the timing down to a tee (kitten season) I now find the animal sanctuaries in my area either don't have any kittens (Cats Protection Portsmouth!) or their kittens are currently poorly.
I really wanted to know my kittens before i went on holiday (I know I'm being impatient but I WANT MY KITTENS NOW!):D
Now spreading the net further afield - have car will travel and will get my kittens!
Many thanks again, I knew I could rely on people here.

Visit Purrs Cat Forum : http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php
Lots of rescue people post there and should be able to point you in the direction for rescues in your area with kittens - there seem to be a lot around at the moment.

Hi
The stray we're currently looking after has just given birth to 5 adorable babies (they were one week old yesterday), however 4 of them are blooming and growing rapidly, and one which i'm assuming is the runt has stayed tiny, not sure if its grown at all. So we're going to try and bottle feed her as she keeps getting booted out of the way when it comes to feeding off mummy cat. I have bought the special milk of the internet (vetuk) which comes complete with feeder etc, i'm just wondering if anyone has done this before, how often do you need to feed them, is there a special technique? I really wanna give the littel fella the best start in life so any advice will be fab!!
Here's a pic
The little one is the one with his paws up on mummy, this was when they were just born so there was not much size difference, gorgeous though
Cheers

Sorry I can't help with the feeding info but just wanted to say aaahh how gorgeous they are. Mum's a beautiful looking girl.
How about giving your vets a ring and asking them for advice.
Good Luck with them all:beer:0
