It may not be anything to do with your credit history, it may just be that you don't fit the profile of the type of customer that they are looking for at the moment.
Pleased to see other people are being turned down for the (advertised - so they must want customers?) Premier Accounts. Annoyed though as I have no debts, no mortgage, hang on...........maybe they just want customers they can make money from. Hmm? I also have clean credit rating etc. Hope there will be other good deals soooon. Need somewhere for my Abbey Isa money - (Cahoot not what they state) but thats another story!0 -

You should be annoyed if you've been turned down, as you won't have a clean credit record any more.0 -

Sorry, that isn't correct. Your credit record will be fine. The fact that you are turned down is not recorded on a credit file, the only thing that is is a credit search. To many searches on a file can damage a credit score but 1 or 2 in the space of a few months is fine.0 -

I stand corrected, but as you say it's another search - for nothing - which can only be negative.0 -
Don't give up - you're letting them get away with it!!!
I wrote to the Executive Chairman - John Windeler at the Head Office, Carlton Park, Narborough, Leics. LE19 OAL.
but was informed on another thread that the new E.C. is Derek Higgs.
I did get a reply telling me my query was being looked at - but then a letter from an idiot saying that we weren't eligible for the recommend a friend incentive as my friend hadn't had his salary paid in in time. (see previous postings on this thread).
We continually pestered them and eventually someone in the accounts opening department decided that we had been annoying enough and we finally were paid the £50 each.
That's not the end of the sorry tale though as I'm still waiting for the £25 incentive for taking out an A & L credit card when I opened the current account - and am currently being fobbed off every time I call.
However I will not give up, and will close all my business with A & L as soon as the 0% period for balance transfers and overdraft finishes. They are without doubt the most abysmal bank I have ever had the misfortune to deposit my money with.0 -
To ALL A & L threads - I have been turned down twice for Premier Accounts.
Why do they advertise if they want to choose. Seems they are only interested in making money from customers, not giving it away. Making it too
obvious though.
They are covering themselves with the time limit on transfer accounts so as not to pay out too many £50`s. Cheap and shabby.
I thought banks had to speed up transactions.
Maybe that only applies to the bank losing a customer?
I have had A & L account for 15 - 20 years.
Was originally a post office account of some sort then A &L took over. NEVER been o`drawn, had savings plan over 10 years.
REFUSED several times upgrade of account. Only just last year been "allowed" card so I can get money (well £50) from P.O.!!
I think there may be laws/guidelines against this sort of behaviour?
Meanwhile can anybody tell me what sort of finance info they are looking for in a customer?
Surely Martin should be looking into WHY so many of his followers are being refused good advice.0 -
Dont give up on chasing them - thats exactly what they want and expect you to do!
Pester and Pester them again.I am NOT a mortgage & insurance adviser - or anything to do with finance, that was put on by the new system I dont know why?!0 -
We are only still with them to get the free travel insurance. Dont keep much in my account - transfer most of it to another bank.
If the annual travel insurance ever finishes we will close our accounts then next day!I am NOT a mortgage & insurance adviser - or anything to do with finance, that was put on by the new system I dont know why?!0
