Hi Martin
I missed it, I'm afraid - but I caught your emergency email over the weekend about capping, and I got into the Scottish Power one thats fixed till the end of August 09, so I'm really pleased.
As for you being awful - no! I didn't see it, as I say, but even if you were a bit less than your usual 110%, and only at 100%, its obvious that lots of people got the message.
I've just seen the end of Edinburgh Glass's post that you might be on in about 10 mins, so here's another one switching the telly back on and rooting for you. Root Root!

I caught your slot this morning. I thought it was very useful and I was glad you got 'political' at the end. I think it is time the politicians stopped listening and start acting. It is shocking the number of people who will suffer 'fuel' poverty because of the rising costs.GC 2011 Feb £626.89/£450 NSD3/7 March £531.26/£450 April £495.99/£500 NSD 0/7 May £502.79/£500

There was nothing wrong with yesterday morning and today you were even better. Thanks very much, I managed to change to E-on yesterday capped at 13% more than I pay now, so I hope that is ok. I ummed and aahed about it but yesterday I realised that further down the comparison sites page were the offers of capped rates. I was too busy looking at the top which saves you money now. Thanks again and keep up the good work!!0

I didn't see the programme but have just watched it on GMTV website. I agree with everyone else: time given was too short for this complex problem. It would have been much better if you had been given some questions in advance to mull over. As for the person who's energy costs have gone up - obvious answer could be they are using more or have a faulty meter or a leak!!
You were not awful and you were not aggressive, you were pushed for time and didn't have enough forward planning. Forget it!
As someone else has already said - YOU ARE A HERO! keep up the good work.0 -
Hi Martin,
I've never seen you on the box before and nor have I ever dealt with our utility bills before, but catching you by chance on the telly (and seeing you being passionate about saving money) made me stop and pay serious attention.
So straight after your slot was over I switched off the telly got myself online, tried to get onto Scottish Power and Eon sites. Both sites were either running sloooow with errors or not at all. Finally got through to the nice folks at Eon on the phone and got my rates capped at 10.20am this morning.
Because of you I took matters into my own hands and saved some cash. You rock!
Who cares about smooth and seamless (and somewhat dull) delivery on the TV. You get the message across and that's what counts!0 -
I watched GMTV this morning and I capped as I was watching.
It worked Martin, you got your point across - I did it:rotfl:0 -
Got my dual tarriff capped 1st thing Monday thanks to your Radio 2 spot Friday.
Most people need a kick up the !!!! where this stuff's concerned, don't fret about an 'iffy' interview. Overall you're keeping the bloke on the street up to speed about what needs doing now. You keep hammering away at us, we'll keep listening.0 -
I listen and learned, and you told me information I did not know .. so I spent the morning back on this site ...:THi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam No idea why you removed it as it was something I learnt from this site - bizarre0

Hi Martin,
I saw you on GMTV and spent the morning switching provider. I was so grateful and can't believe you are being so hard on yourself!! despite the interviewers awful complex questions your message came across loud and clear - TO CAP NOW. Nothing else mattered. Not only did I cap but got my friends and family to cap too. I think that counts as a top class communication!!! You were not aggressive at all - very passionate and extremely cute
:T0 -
Thanks so much folks, I was much happier with my interview this morning - but your kind words really cheered me up.
TV is a tough game, havign worked many hours to be up to speed and non slept, then you feel you have to be chirpy, when actually all you want to do is sleep. The difference between this morning and yesterday - i slept 7 hours last night, 3 or 4 the night before.
And i'll let you into a secret , we couldn't film by my house, as there was no signal, so we walked a few streets away and then I realised I was near David Camerons house (the end of his street) and so if you heard the political message - i wonder if he was listening
Luckily the street is anonymous so i dont think i'm giving anything away telling you that
