Dominica being one of only three countries in the world beginning with D!

Can you guess the other two? No googleing!

One of them's Denmark. Can't think of another except Deutchland, but does that count?

Denmark, Dominica, Dominican Republic (they are two different countries) and Djibouti - I count four :p

Five if you add Dhekelia (a sovereign overseas territory of the UK), which is considered a country by the CIA World Factbook (http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/dx.html).

ah-hm. Did you learn all that from a book when you were a young'un, and have stored it away in a corner of your mind all these years, OR did you get it from Google?

OK, this will seen as totally anal but what the heck! I was the one who first listed the 4 countries that begin with D in another thread we had about a week ago. I bet that's where some of you above saw the information. Anyway, Dhekelia is not a country; it is just a piece of land the Queen owns outside the UK. The way to check if a piece of land is an official country is to see if it has an ISO country code: http://www.iso.org/iso/en/prods-services/iso3166ma/02iso-3166-code-lists/list-en1.html

    You're welcome!

The first four I got from previous posts in this thread (I read them beofre trying to think of them myself)! :shhh:

The Dhekelia place I got by looking on cia.gov website just to check if there were any more. As greenwich points out Dhekelia is not really a country, but it is a bit of land on Cyprus that is not the sovereign territory of either North or South Cyprus.
